PD has suggested your van will struggle and given he has the more powerful version he has probably the best view to comment on its ability to move a 6.8

With that in mind then I would look for another 6m ish as that would be better suited to your van or just commit to the 6.8 and disco.

Redbay 6.1 is probably a better boat for you if you can find a suitable spec or something along those lines.

Plenty to choose from around that size and healthy budget and good time of year to buy.

You could always get the 6.8 .... Use the Disco ...and a decent SIB set up for the camper....Im thinking I may go that way myself in the future

On the ribeye 650 VS 585, I can't compare sea keeping. I would never buy a ribeye though but for different reasons.

Your best bet maybe Last Tango on here, he has been on my 6.8, our friends ribeye 650 and he owns a coastline 6.5, maybe he can help you with a comparison. I do know both these boats are circa 400-500kg lighter.

Redbay 6.1 maybe good compromise or commit to towing a 6.8 if you can find one with your disco/be careful with t5

Owner on Ribcraft Owners Group (Facebook) selling their 6.8m and Suzuki 200 for £39,995. Just a year old, fully loaded. I don't know the seller, just passing on details. Dry berthed in Poole.

£25k - decent clean low hours 585 RC
£25k - average to old 6.3 RC/Humber/Ribeye etc
£25k - VERY old and tired 6.8.

I think if you shopped around you'd get a decent clean low hours 6.5mtr for that.....My mates "average" Ribeye 650 cost less than half that.

25k will get you into a "good" 6-6.5, it won't get you into a "good" 6.8 though.

It is buying time of year so just need to be patient

If you need a trailer you better add about £4500 to the price to the 40k, I had to do same with mine at time.

FWIW I hate suzuki have went 4 cylinders on a 200, the boat doesn't need 250hp IMO but it absolutely needs v6 torque. A mercury v8 would be even better ofcourse!

It doesn't matter if I'm 2 up or 8 up, the performance is great with the v6. I wouldn't say no to a v8 250

Isn't there a 4cyl and 6cyl version of the suz 200hp to suit larger craft with rated transoms of 200hp.

There are a fair few tidy 585's sub £20k.

There is a old'ish 6.8 with an E-Tec 200 for £14k on boatsandoutboards.

I'm also looking for a 6.8, but like rocking horse poo.
Decided a 7.5 or 7.8 will be easier to find.

I agree...You may not "need" a V6 250 Suz....but believe me it's a great Fit on the 6.8!

4.5k for a trailer??.. that's a bit Lumpy!....I paid lees than 1/2 that for mine six years ago..(twin axel Dixon Bate) retail list price was around 3.5k then...just got to make sure you get the right deal

It'll be interesting how the Merc V8 does actually stack up (I've heard good things)

..the Suz was the first 250 F.S and IMO is/will be a hard act to follow.

The Suzuki 250 while I'm sure is nice I wouldn't be in a hurry to change mine for one, it will spin up to 46mph 8 up (only once with 8 onboard) and about 51/52 with me and Mrs and full tank of go go juice.

The only thing I would change is to whack a mercury on it.

Trailer is a typo, should be 3.5k...although I found bill for mine and with options on it was £3800 about 2 years ago.
