Ribcraft 5.3 battery and fuel filter position

Just been going thru new to me r/c 5.3 with double jockey console internal tank , just generally cleaning up and tidying electrics ,but console internals are compact but the most striking thing to me is the battery ,and fuel filler and filter are all pretty snug in the base of the console , my question to the people on here is; is this normal ? ,is it sensible ? ,, my initial thoughts are to move the filter to the rear of the boat on the transom ,and move the battery back to under the passenger seat (behind the helm ) the boat was coded so it has a bep fume alarm in the console and one would assume its all normal and the prefered way ,but very interested to get others thoughts

I've had 2 RC, and their standard spec is to house both of these within the console.

Battery I totally agree with, it is well protected heavy item forward of CoG and close to main loom,so minimising wiring, and good weight distribution and the console is well ventilated. Don't understand why you'd want to move that weigh aft?

Water separator in the console:- again is well protected and safe from any UV and close to the fuel system. I know there is a school of thought about this being better placed on the transom,closer to the engine, and a further debate about whether it should be before or after the primer bub. Not sure the risk water ingress the fuel line from tank to engine is that great - water is most likely to contaminate in the tank.

All I can say is Ribcraft are professionals and there's logic in their siting of equipment, and in my experience it works, so why change it?

5.3 is a great boat its its size

thanks for the reply ,if its standard fit thats good for me i,ll be changing nothing ! , to be honest i was worrying about dropping a spanner across the battery terminals ,after spilling petrol when changing the filter , must admit it was a bit stinky under there before i cleaned it all up and think this is what made me think of such a scenario ,however once cleaned and tidied it all looks far more functionable , thanks ,
cant wait to get it out for a test run as i bought without seeing in the flesh and am well pleased with the outcome so far

Perhaps fit some rubber boots over the terminals to mitigate against this?

You can leave the original protector on M8 if you have it or make one and use one of these that is suitable
