RiBbing sucks...........

Life is tough. A hard day out to the Eddystone Lighthouse and this turns up to ruin our day!!!!

P.S. Before anyone asks, the engine was off, it came to us, it swam directly under the boat twice whilst feeding and we had a marine biologist onboard. Oh and it was 8m + long and more than a metre wide!!!

I've got a scarier one than that!

Taken from a Bombard 3.8m inflatable, by my wife, whilst I was hiding in the bottom of the boat!

Off Corrie, Isle of Arran.

The shark was at least 5m long. Amazing, but quite intimidating in such a wee boat!

Cheers

have to ask...never seen a basking shark off the Tyne!
The rumour mill was in full effect a few years ago when lots of savaged porpoises with 11" bite marks were being washed up, that a Mako shark was off the NE coast!
Anyone got any shark / whale stories from the North Sea???

Basking shark indeed. See quite a lot of wild-life at the Eddystone reef including pilot whales (very occasionally) dolphins and leatherback turtles.

Makos are seen occasionally as are blue and thresher sharks along with the very beautiful sunfish

This beauty was however, completely toothless.

Sorry Amber, I misread it to read "bombard 3.8mtr inflated was my wife", I was thinking its no wonder you were hiding in the bottom of the boat, from her

Only Joking, Basking sharks have no teeth, though i am not sure that they know that.....

They are pussy cats, infact if they swallowed you, you would choke them.

I seem to recall that the last reported Shark attack in UK was of South West coast by Mako some 40 years ago and that was non fatal.
A Porbeagle is prhaps the most suspected of sharks off our coasts, I believe itis relatd to the Canadian Salmon Shark and Great white
