RIB video link thread

Anybody know of any online video of RIBs in action, please link below, to keep the winter boredom away

Would love to see some rough weather footage of a rib in action ?

Post a link together with brief description of what and who, etc

Following link is a Ribcraft 585 in action from ribcraft website, there is a more detailed version for broadband users lower down

I would love one of these, one day

If anyone wants a spin on one, You can always come to Dublin...

We dont bother going out in good weather anymore( we use good weather for maintantence!!!!).... Drysuits, ski googles hats and gloves are the order of the day... I shall miss the winter... LOL LOL

Hysucat (Hydrofoil Supported Catamaran)

Yes Tim

I have said many times before and I will say it again, if you are looking for a 6.5 metre rib for cruising, fishing, skiing whatever, look no further - the Hysucat is for you. Like you Tim, I got bored and actually enjoyed going out in very rough conditions with my Hysucat, it truly is the most amazing ride you can only appreciate if you go out for a spin on one. They are also very reasonably priced in comparison to other offers in this size range.

But you cant pack one of them with divers.. Deep V dive ribs with a big engine are just as much fun in rough weather.

Excuse me, in Cape Town a dive operation based in Gordon's Bay have 5 Hysucats rigged up for tanks and all the other paraphernalia. They take 8 divers at a time. Because of the ingenious foil system (front and back) the Hysucat gets on the plane, fully laden quicker than any other rib of its size on the market, this with minimal horse power.

I was on a cruise up the river Rance past St.Malo some seven years ago, just after the Hysucat came to the UK - Hugo (from Rib Int) wanted to see what 'she' could do and we piled 14 ribsters (some were the size of a couple of English rugby locks), opened the throttles and we were on the plane in seconds - 28 knots a few seconds later - truly remarkable - and this with 2 Yam 4-stroke 50's! Besides the unquestionable performance, being a cat hull, the deck surface area is enormous with a very clever rail system for attaching things specifically like tank holders for divers. If Tim and Gavin bring their Hysucat to the Ribnet Conference do yourself a favour and check it out.

Yes the Hysucats are different but seem to be solid boats. The hull design is proving to be very effective.

Charles

Although I have nothing against cats or RIB cats due to 'a certain incidents' that I know of that happened in a race in SAfrica involving these boats lets say that I'm not convinsed about them yet
There was also a thread about that particular incident but I can't find it any more. Has it mysteriously desapeared?? or am I wrong??

Hysucat at RIBNET meeting

I have said that we will try to bring the hysucat to the meeting on its own bottom, But the old weather is our biggest concern. also its a good strech from Dunmore east to Penzance... I think about 160 miles.....

However if we make it, anyone and every one is welcome for a spin.

If we decide not to go buy Rib, we will be there by car!
