RIB Types.

Ok I was going to do a poll but I don't think you can do them on this Forum.

Just interested in what types of Ribs you are interested in and why. not 'Ilike yellow RIBS' but under the headings of

comecial style
Military/Ex-Military
luxury (leather seat e.t.c)
Cabin (keep me dry please Im wet enough as it is)
leisure/recreational
Racing

e.t.c

also what make and Model of RIB you would have if you could afford it.

E.G for me it would be the Delta X-Range

and try and include a pic if you can so eveyone knows what you are on about.

I'llstart the proceedings.... I am interested in both comercial style and military style Ribs because i think a RIB is designed to look hard waring and tough not soft (probably a personal image thing aswell)

Personaly I would like a Delta X-range because of its excelent sea keeping ability in heavy weather and its good reputation with the police and the military it would be black and Grey

Personally I like commercial/military type ribs, basically due to their hard wearing and they are thoroughly tested by the forces before they are bought. It sort of does the leg work for you!

Having said that I absolutely adore the delta range of ribs, but my pocket doesn't stretch quite that far and too be honest I can think of other boats I'd rather have for the £60k price tag! (I can pick up a second hand Botnia Targa for that sort of money!!)

I will......when it's ready (hopefully early November) be using my new 7.2m XS-Rib mainly for diving and the odd pub run to Sark or Herm so leather seats and the like are of little use to me. An enclosed wheel house would be good but again I'm getting into dreamland again!

Roll on November and I hope this bl**dy wind gives me a break so that I can pick up from the Solent and bring back to Guernsey! (Can't wait!!!!!!)

Yep, I'd be the same too Commercial/Military please!! None of these fancy bathing platforms/bimini tops/cool boxes here thanks very much!!

Money no object ideal RIB would have to be a Delta Super-X semi-enclosed
http://www.deltapower.co.uk/sx.htm#

A Halmatic Cougar Alliance with twin surface piercing drives would be nice too though!!
http://www.vtplc.com/halmatic/produc...D=702&catid=93

Ribcraft Mitigator is another nice one, with carbon fibre arch!! Probably the nicest looking RIB out of the lot IMHO
http://www.ribcraftusa.com/mitigator.html

I do quite like the more commercial looking Scorps as well like Fjordrafting's one.

Realistically thinking though, its gonna have to be a Tornado 7.5m for me, maybe 5/6 yrs time. I'd still like to be able to tow on the road, hence the size and have always loved Tornados. Nice big Verado on the back, mmmmm!!

as a hard boater who wants a rib, id have to say luxury/leisure.

my ideal would be a scorpion hull with a marc pascoe sr9 type interior and consoles, in particular the split consoles like the old vulture ventures and gareths race boat... mmm oh yeah stereo and cool box too and for all you leisure rib manufacturers a moulded deck with a proper forward cleat

The old Rupert still is a good looking if not ever so macho.....bordering on homo-erotica sort of a rib!!

www.rupertmarine.com

I think with a black rib you really should have twin mounted, auto targetting machine guns. Just for the times when.......well whenever there is a yacht about!

The biggest that would fit in the garage of the Sunseeker I would buy

Seriously now, I wouldn't mind a cabin RIB. But it would have to be big so I can get in few luxuries but not loose the deck space so I can use it as dive platform too. Or maybe I could just buy 2. One for diving and one for everything else.
