Rib trailer overall costs?

Looking to buy a rib which is in good condition but the trailer will require new brakes, new wheels, new hubs new cables and a new hitch. Does anyone have a ball park figure for a dealer to bring the trailer up to scratch please?

Hi ive found this company good with spares, have a go yourself as it isn’t rocket science you tube can be helpful, numbers are stamped on the back of bearings which help and complete hubs can be sourced if you don’t want to replace component parts

I paid £500 in Inverness on holiday new brakes yes had no choice was expensive, you might find that it's cheaper to buy a new axel complete which is easy to change you could get waterproof bearings too as an upgrade, the gas damper was £100 ish the whole hitch will be fairly expensive + 1 for trailer tek

PD is probably right by the time you sell your old trailer you will be up to the cost of a new one after buying all the parts and paying someone to fit them all.
It's amazing how much people will pay for an old trailer that requires all the moving parts replaced.
If you were doing the labour yourself it may be worthwhile but paying someone you'd probably be very close to the cost of new once you factor in what you will get for the old one

Axel braked £450 , braked hitch with lock £225 ,cables will come with new axel ,pair 13/1500 kg wheels and tyres £160 before you have seen a roller !!
+1 for seriously considering new trailer

I had this recently spend £200+ on parts for trailer (wheels hubs winch etc) or sell trailer ( unbraked ) for £3-400 and buy a brand new trailer for £700 ish...£100-£300 extra, in the end got the parts for £160 now regret it, a new trailer would have been a much better move, considering an upgrade next year for the whole rig so the £160 is down the drain as it were.... as it’s still an old trailer where as a new or by then 12month old trailer should have added some value to the package....plus had the hassle of the fitting it all and now realise the new winch is a price of junk and likely be putting the old one back with new handle and strap.....

Just had my trailer done by SBS Trailers...…..new 1500kg braked axle complete with hubs/drums, brakes, cables, new mudguards, steps (each side) and a flushing kit.
Cost me £900 in all, however a new similar spec'd trailer would have set me back £2500-£3000!
All depends on what the trailer is personally worth to you.

Extreme trailers in Southampton have some very good prices so a new, as per the above, might be just as cost effective.

Once you factor in the sale of the old trailer which you will probably get £800 ish for the figures get much closer and you have a nice shiny new trailer for only a few quid more than the repairs to your old one
