RIB picture/drawing?????

Hi all
A little help is needed and I am sure someone on here will know the answer.
I have a picture of a RIB I would like to convert into a drawing or a cartoon.
Is this possible? is there a package on the Internet that will allow me to do this?

OR

Is there a package that will allow me to draw a RIB from scratch along the lines of the RIBNET pic at the top of the page, (obviously not copying it)

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I am pulling my hair out looking.

depends how good you need it - if it's just your personal use then you could get a way with scanning the drawing into a program like Coral or Adobe photoshop and then rendering it that way. If you want a vector version and plan to go to print with it or put it on the back of your rib etc (and one you can enlarge to any size), then Adobe Illustrator would be the tool of choice. But you will have to learn all these programs, it's not quite as easy as buying it and then drawing on screen - you'll need to learn the tools, what they do and how to work them right.

here's a photoshopped rib i did from a line drawing:

if it's just an effect you want - you can buy Photoshop Elements which is probably a quarter of the price of Photoshop, you should be able to turn the picture into a line drawing in that - other than that, and to get a proper job done the only way is to pay someone like me

post the pic up if you can...

thanks for that.
As I was only going to do it once I was hoping to get away with not spending any money on it.

I will have a look at Adobe illustrator and see if I can do anything with that.

Failing that there appears to be a rather good one attached to your reply that i could use without paying anyone!!!!!!!

No only joking I will look at Adobe

It's worth a look at the Adobe and Corel websites to see if they offer trial software - I was able to download a free 30 day trial of the Adobe Premier Elements video editing software.

Cheers

Chris

I am trying to convert a JPEG I have seen on google images of a RIB, it is a well known manufacturer, I would like to use the picture as a base and make it into a cartoon/drawing and disguise the RIB manufacturer and the engine.
Is this ethical? can I do it without infringing copyright etc ???
What I have in mind I would hope people will not be able to recognise the maker.

Can I do this to a JPEG using the design packages mentioned earlier

thanks for any help
