But while we're on the subject, Sula is a somewhat different beastie to a 750 Cabin, she's effectively a Stormforce 7.4 with a "Prototype" Expedition forward topside mould grafted on. Her aft section is wholly a "soft" rib with an interesting box section built into the transom forward of the outboards.

The 750 Cabin appears to be a small (but perfectly formed ) 8.4 Expedition.

Hi Willk,

Thanks for that. I don't know much abot the 7.50 cabin as I said before, and Gary didn't send me any info on it when he wrote re. the 7.4 and 8.4 models. It sounds like a great boat.

In any event, if the 7.50 is, as you say, a smaller version of the 8.4 with all of its advantages and good points, I suppose your comments would apply to all 7.4 canopy and cabin models, and not only to to Sula.

Not much chance of my buying Sula in any case, as out of the three or e-mails that I sent to potential buyers, up to this morning I had no replies (that has now changed). I wonder if they received my e-mails. They were forwarded by the Redbay site. Maybe there is a hitch somewhere.

I did get a reply from Paul, but I wrote to him directly.

rupert.

Reg. Sula.

Just curious, as she is the sort of kit I am saving up for...
As small as possible but still a cabin and dual outboards.
The drawings are very similar, between the 740 and 750 explorers. They seem like the same boat..
Am I missing something obvious?

You could well be.

My advice is take your time and suss things out beforehand before jumping in. And this applies to any boat purchase.

thanx cuttlefish, appreciate it.

I should have been clearer with my question:
Is there any difference at all between the 740 and 750 designs worth knowing about? Kado and Sula are two very nice cabin redbays on here and look like very similar designs.
I would assume Sula has two engines for safety and loses some top speed and fuel economy to achieve that.
I would also assume that the 750 has some modernisations in the design over the 740 and am curious as to what they are.
Very nice boats, very curious ;-)

thanx again

Willk, unofficial Redbay information officer will be along to confirm the details. However I think that one of the major differences is that the nose on the 750 is available with a hard front so giving more space for a cabin inside the bow area, than on the 7.4. And presumably its 10cm longer?

the 750 is just the new version of the 7.4 , they have done the same with the 6.5 , 650. same hull apart from hard nose on 750, but on the new 750 and 650 they now made make them differently, they now have the deck as a mould and join it to the hull mould , this makes them quicker to make , lighter and cleaner finish, i had the factory tour. and have been convinced , well worth the trip, top class factory , people and ribs. Of course i to will wait for the redbay wilk master for the final word,

Thanx all,

I read all the stuff about the new 750 mould and hardnose but it still looks the same. Perhaps the hardnose is as rounded as if the tubes where there?
Ah well, thanx again, interesting!

Welcome to RIBnet, Tube tickler

Don't be put off by some folks on here calling you an Excalibur promotional zombie, they said similarly nasty things about me too. Some even wondered if I actually EXISTED and speculated that I was the product of gaRfiE's fevered imagination.

But I'm sure it'll be water off a duck's back to you
