RIB "Kali" for sale........RB4

Just found this on ebay. It's one of the boats from RB4.......Of interest to me cos the bloke is local and he went round Britain again not so long again in a Searider. I seem to remember reading about that.......In rib intnational perhaps.

I don't remember seeing the hull at Ribex last year, but Jon Aldiss (aka jonthegayboatdriver ) did open Ribex this year. At the time he was the "Round British Isles" record holder in his larger RIB "Titan" until this record was broken by Chris Strickland and his team in "Seahound 4"

I think Jon Aldiss had his wave piercing jet turbine rib at last years RIBEX. (04). I seem to recall a long black carbon fibre thingy on land and wondering just how it would perform at sea!

The RB4 rib had a fuel tank failure somewhere off the Northumberland coast on RB4. I think their underdeck tank had failed so their fuel was slopping around in the bilges. Certainly they ended up putting out a distress call and I think getting some fuel from a passing rig supply boat! We were about 20nm away from them in Cyanide at the time and I recall having a conversation with the coastguard about offering assistance.

I also think I recall that they went back and redid round britain in the boat after their attempt came to a halt on the East Coast. Nice guys but feckin nutters!

The wave piercing "Kali". Which was carbon fibre and had a helicopter engine, I tried to track down a couple of years ago. I found out it had an evinrude outboard fitted, and was still undergoing testing. Loved the look of it. Shame it appears to have been hidden
