Rib International

Hurray, Decembers issue is now out and looks like they have found something interesting to write about at last. Yes it does have a 4 x 4 report but thats relagated to the back. Oh and the picture of the Pacific 22 on page 79 is back to front. However there are a series of articles that now demand my immediate attention. If they drop the 4x4 reviews I might even subscribe again.

So how did you know that, Pete? I guess that you know the boat?

OK - work this one out...

What's the (deliberate?) mistake with the picture on page 6/7

The prop turns "the wrong way" on a pacific stern drive, well if you are used to outboards anyway. Also the bilge pump is on the wrong side they are always on the Port side.

Hmm, okay bear with me on this one:

The boat is owned by a Jewish family (nothing wrong with that). They have invited KH to do the round Ireland with them. Indeed you can see his sib on the back engine cover. However they will not allow him to fry up bacon butties on the boat. So being ingenious he dons his drysuit and lifejacket, and jumps in. Places his one man gas cooker on his tum and starts a fry up. He also took the pic whilst waiting.

Either that or because there are no children on board it must belong to flanker (or shouldn't I go there)

The Book is finished and at the printers and should be ready for distribution in three weeks time, (in time for that extra xmas prezzie that your wife/partner always wanted) For those who have put their name down for one of the first editions I will be in contact very soon.

Our attentions are now firmly on the video / CD which I have to say has some stunning shots. There is one particular shot while we were in 55 knots of wind, of a huge great wave coming towards the boat with Steve and myself outside trying to repair a broken hatch. It was this wave that cracked the cabin!!! It was also the wave that I nearly punched Steve for pushing me out of the way so he could get a good hand hold ! Thats what mates are for!!! All things being well it should be available sometime in January. Alan P

Julian,

You are completely correct. The funny thing is... I'm sure I didn't send my SIB around Ireland!

Pepper,

Funny you should mention that. We are thinking of a 'Round Ireland SIB Expedition' for 2004.

Alan,

I guess it was the same guy that did the videos listed on this site the number i have tried dozens of times with no luck is ''Digital Vision on 020 7277 4843''. Is this correct?

I know he got some really really great stills and footage. and alot of it. have mentioned it to rib int a couple of times and maybe will drop jo a quick email. But I for one would love to see some of the video and stills if he has them.

Toby
