I,m surprised no one has suggested that when the Chinese boat is fit for your needs ,which may be as simple as just getting on the water , ,,,,at least you have enough money left to have a "SPARE RIB "

The four " Greats " are paper-making , printing , the compass and gunpowder , but further down the list comes alcohol fermentation...........

There is a fair bit of commentary from folk with opinions on the topic but can anyone speak from firsthand experience? .
The above is the question asked by the original poster asking if anyone had first hand experience of owning a China rib.....

I have had two .. the second one a replacement for the first.....which was even worse...it broke before even seeing water [emoji51] both were sh*te..

So I gave him my opinion... which was certainly not a positive one . Sorry to upset any Chinese rib lover's on here but......

I say again stay clear of CHINA ribs it will end in [emoji26] . Only IMO of course .

People ask for advice (usually after the event[emoji849]) all we can do is give the benefit of experience, if someone chooses to ignore the advice, that's down to them. It's like sticking a "Wet Paint" sign up.
"The Rules" are as relevant now as they've always been[emoji848]

RIB from China - lianya-industry

I've now got over 400hrs on my Highfield 590, all in Scottish waters from Ullapool to Islay in the west and Montrose to Eyemouth in the east. Been out in many challenging conditions - sometimes by choice and sometimes caught out. Only issue I can recall was a poorly positioned drain hole by the fuel filler - easily fixed with a drill...
A mate has a RC585 and regularly chooses to come in the Highfield as he likes the ride.
I chose the boat as it is lighter for its size than fibreglass so easier for me launch and recover single handed from the beach. Would I buy again - yes.

Edit: had some trailer issues initially, but the support from the importer was great and he replaced with a new EU certified trailer.

Matt, that's a little disparaging and inflammatory. Perhaps wee bit too much Daily Mail reading.

With regards Chinese cars, you're not comparing like for like. A car has around 30,000 components, a hull has...well one.
China has a very strong manufacturing base and as an economy it effectively grows by the same as Australia's entire GDP each year. For simplicity It adds a new Australia to the world economy each year (yes even with a slow growth of only 6.9% for the first Q2017). The US is its main export partner and it is now (since 2010) the worlds largest trading / export nation.
So, what things made in China would I buy? Textiles obviously, mobile products? Your phone and iPad for example. What about your GPS on your boat? Garmin marine manufacture in Taipei.
Take a look through the FT or Economist and maybe your view will change.

Hold fire, Some people are willing to purchase a rib made in China and some are not. I hope that the purchase turns out well. But there is a element of meanness coming into this thread which is not to be welcomed.

Regards

Sorry for my part - I don't like the current trend (in the media and social media) of influencing people based on sound bites or catchy phrases with little substance.

Not to mention 30% per annum going forward Defence spending increases...
...maybe Kerny and Hadd should have got onto the economist and FT when thier Chinese RIBs fell to bits after a couple of Trips!?
....Or maybe that's a reason to recommend them

Yes. And yet when we travel the world, do we see eateries promoting their Great British Cuisine (excepting the English All Day Breakfast )?

So you'll understand why the Chinese might have detuned their UK offerings by a few HP sauce...
