RIB for Water skiing

Want a RIB that I can water ski behind with a fixed point ski attachment ie pole or A frame, not a fan of bridles. Have been looking at Ribeye and Cobra. Any other makes out there in the 7-8 metre range at about 20K secondhand not before year 2000.

You can ski behind any 7-8 meter rib. It's what else do you want to do with it that determines what you buy. There are many manufacturers and many different combinations within you size range. If skiing is your main criteria, then 7-8m is actually quite a big boat. It'll need 200hp+ and will therefore be heavy. If you have novice skiers on the back whom are often falling off, this is a lot of boat to keep hauling back onto the plane. You'll burn plenty of fuel. A 6m boat will get onto the plane with a little less effort. As for the A frame. Make sure that it's a solid, well mounted affair. Preferably double tube.

Yes, your right. The RIB is to be used for other purposes. Trips to Scotland/Isle of Man bit of fishing and generally bit of cruising round Northern Ireland. This is why I've opted for this size of rib and it also seats people comfortably. The skiing is another thing i'm into but fixed point attachments are hard to find on them.

I mono ski regularly behind a friends Cobra and its pretty good (6.8 with 225hp) although I'd agree about the earlier comments about size and fuel consumtion, its a bigger boat than it really needs to be. Personally (apart from other uses for your rib) I'd actually try and ski behind the one you think your going to buy, in my experience ribs provide a varied wash/wake. My own Ribcraft has very large tubes and seems to produce a very high wake wave which is not great for skiing behind, a smaller tubed boat may be better but I'm no expert

Be ver interested to know which Ribcraft you have ?
I waterski, monoski, wakeboard, donut, and knee board behind my Ribcraft 7.8 and find it and Excellent ski boat. Just need to adjust speed and trim to make a nice wake for wake boarding jumps ! or nice andflat for mono'ing

I find it to be gerat boat and can take lots of people to play too !

I did realise that people still waterski.

Get wakeboarding you lot and use the wake rather than complaining about it.

I've already hung up my wakeboard - a little bunny hop off the wake last summer jarred my dodgy knee and reminded me I was too old to be playing with young guys' toys

Dusted off my '85 Jobe 'Edge' mono, for some 'old skool' fun instead

I have a 685 with a 200hp outboard. I have commercial spec tubes which are larger than standard.
