RIB Covers

Can anyone help please? I am after a RIB cover and I remember seeing an ad for an outfit that used to advertise regularly in RIB Int., but I have not seen their ad for a while. I think they were based in Emsworth. I have looked through the past issues that I have with no success. Tried Google and got no where. Alternatively, do you know of anyone south coast ish who can do a good made to measure cover at a sensible price? Thanks for any recommendations.

Just been quoted by a company local to me?

£55.00 + vat for a console + four pod seat cover(just a shoe box shape)

£140.00 + vat for a total cover made to measure (she's been and crawled all over my boat) it includes covering the A frame and over the tubes

Have ordered both with the small one being ready for Friday hopefully

Hows it going ?

Not too bad now thanks James. I owe you one or two pics, must get the camera out now the Sun has shown itself. Made good the steering helm mounting box, and I am now just mucking around with the console, waiting for instruments. Trouble is, I set my mind on what I wanted, only to find that there were none in the country

. Still have now been promised them soon. Also still waiting for the upholstery, and as part of this will cover the fuel filler, I do not want to start cutting that until I have the upholstery in my hot and sweaty to make sure all fits.
Still given the time that I usuallly have available, steady if slow progress is being made

What material is this - it does sound very er inexpensive! However, I think that I would like to see if I can find someone a little nearer to me before I start considering a trek up to your neck of the woods!

I've got one of these. Its dead good and looks somewhat more expensive than it is, I think. Just put a couple of zips in it to get around the A-frame. It covers the cowling of the outboard as well.

I have a cover from them (to fit a 7.8 ballistic) that is in decent enough condition - RRP new is over £400 - cheeky offers welcome as its collecting dust in the garage.

It's what they use on caravan covers but green on the outside with a white liner seems very strong from the sample

I was going to go for one of these. Pete 7 has one for his Pacific and looks very strong and good value for the money.

£150 or so for a cover for a 22' boat seems fair enough - so how the hell can people justify the quotes I have had for covers for my RIB - £800 up to £1400 - what a joke!!!

They also do a Zip service for a little more, I would like to fit the cover onto the RIB first and see where thigs go. I'll make changes to the cover as I go.

Yes, anything over £200 for a 21 footer is getting expensive.

Whilst I'm at it, I have two peices of Lorry siding type tarp (real heavy stuff), in Yellow and about 3m wide and 10 meters long. Some damage to the corners, but plenty big enough for a 5-6meter RIB.

Covercare made a fab cover for our sailing dinghy and it was very reasonably priced and good quality. However, and this is a big however, when I contacted them to get a quote for the Rib which was considerably less work although more material - the cost was £508.

There is another company near Chichester and their quote was so bad that I have temporary memory loss but it was nearer £1000 - ouch.

I bought the biggest one from Rib-Shop for £110 - really well made and we did have to make a slight alteration as it didn't fit the A-frame so we have made two cuts at the back that allow the A-frame to sit proud.

Otherwise - can't fault it.

Thanks for the replies guys (and gal!). It was Cover Care that I was trying to find. I want a made to measure cover as I want it to cover the 'A' frame and be easy to get on and off. I've had enough of struggling with heavy duty covers that especially in the winter are a pain. Also, where mine is parked on its trailer I want it to look as inconspicuous as possible, hence covering the whole of the 'A' frame, and a good part of the hull as well. So as to blend in it is to be green, and so hopefully passing towrags will not get interested.

God, I'm difficult to please

If there is anyone out there cheaper than Cover Care ...........................

I thought that the grey silver was pretty inconspicous unless you have loads of foliage in the front garden of course.

My 5.8 vipermax is at mastertrim having a cover made to measure, with ratchet strap fastening as i have asked for, the cover will go right under the tubes, and allso cover the engine, 350.00.+vat probably to far to travel though
from down south,picture of my last cover on a 6.2 shakespear.

I did actually buy the Bembridge Outboards Cover. £155 for a blue elasticated Cover that looks really good quality. Comes with it's own tie down kit too.

The Grey covers that they also sell are being replaced with the better quality blue ones.

When I get my RIB I'll show you some pics.

This week probably, to collect next week though
