RIB cover

Now the SR4 is finished its going on a mooring. I need a cover for it to help protect the tubes and console.
The "blue ebay RIB covers" look ok but strap under the boat which is no good.
Any ideas?

Its where they tie on is the problem. Am tempted to get on with a drawstring and pull it tight and tie it on the forward D ring and rings at the stern.

I have one of the blue ones for a 7m rib, and can put it on, straps and all whilst on the water, bit fidly, but feeding it on from the bow to stern, with the straps clipped in place can work, then just tighten when all in place.

Guess it could be a bit more fiddly on a smaller rib, but if it's on a mooring, I guess you have a tender to get you out there?

There is another supplier on ebay, that does not advertise under ribs.

They have an elasticated hem, and straps. Just phone before you buy one if you go this route, they had a batch of lower duty material, that was not good enough imo.

I'll either be in my tender or just swim out.
It shouldn't be too hard working the straps under the hull.
Would rather use a cover that someone else has just so I know its a decent one.

Which would you recommend?

Thanks

RIB Cover

Hi Chewy, I was considering making my own from a wagon trailer tarpaulin.
I was told the company Tees Tarpaulins could supply the tarp, I gave them a call and thwy said approx £120 for one the size I needed.
How much are the ones you have been looking at?

the one you ordered is "Beam size: Max. 90" (228cm) "
Beam of an SR4 is 1.8m I think, so might well be OK.

Just spoke to the seller and swapped it for a RIB cover.
Even though my RIB is 4m he recommended the 3m cover as my console isn't real high.

Mine's got the draw string on it and when it lived on a drying berth I had bungie cords with a small weight in the middle. Put them over the bow and pull them along the hull to the back and clip on to the draw string each side, and then another one near the front. Worked well. The weight was only to make the cord sink and once it dried out the weight of the boat in the mood kept the cord in place.
I think you can get rubbing strake that has a lip to hook things onto.

Similar to mentioned above, there is a boat on a river mooring on the Hamble -maybe a Fairey or of that style - which uses hanging bags (maybe sand/lead shot?) in place of an underboat strap. It seems to work as the cover is taught and with no pooling.

That said I would have thought a SR4 would require no more than 4 under boat straps, which would be feasible to apply from a tender?

A pic-that'd be good thanks. Need to get one for the 6m rib. Lives in the garage usually but be nice to be able to cover it on trips away. The 5.5 has a humber cover that we had supplied with it but it is soooo heavy and takes up so much room when not in use. Any issues with consol or A frame?

Went straight over the console and fits fine. I don't have an A frame so no problems there.
To be honest it looks like it has been custom made for my boat, couldn't believe my luck.
