Steve,

When I used to stay on Hayling Island a guy used to advertise his boat locally for bare boat charter. Expensive though.

If you want to try before you buy why not go to the Sports Boat and RIB Show.

Heres a link to the location.

Or RIBEX.

Both shows allow you to try before you buy. AND ITS FREE. After paying any entry fee that is.

We will do Bareboat Charter out of Haslar Marina, but owing to our sky high insurance premiums for bareboating, the cost is extremely similar if not higher than for skippered Charter!

The offer of some petrol money usually goes a long way and is not classed as commercial - I am sure someone will oblige but not bareboat!!!

"Reasonable Expenses" are allowed, and you're quite right, I'm sure someone in the area would lend a boat on that basis.
