Regarding drag, the way to get it moving is to get the weight up forward & lift the transom out the water. It;s for the same reason a 5Hp will shift a ton & a half of yacht quite happily- their hulls are designed to be "slippy" through the water - RIBS are designed to go across the top!

I forget the exact numbers, but on a Friend's Ribcraft with a Tohatsu 6, the difference between us "lounging on the jockey" vs me sitting on the bow & him steering from ahead of the console with the "main rudder" was in the ballpark of 2 knots!
