What's the plan when done, perhaps somebody would loan it until the boat is sold ?

How about 50 ribnetters loan you the money to buy it, they then get all their money back at the end out of the auction proceeds.

Spoken to him and it all seams ok, trailer is about a year old and hasn't really been used and the engine has been serviced every year.

If I had the money spare I would just buy it as it would be perfect, but the trouble is, I don't.....

This really is a tricky one

this is why i suggest a Paypal account for donations instead of justgiving...this way you could put goods up for sale to fund engine.

Or folk a far might offer some spare cash....

another one will appear and cheaper - but we need to have the funds in place to buy it quickly...either loan or by fundraising for it...

50 ribnobbers loaning £40 each gives you £2000 kitty to make this happen. If you can find the other 49 ribnobbers I'm in.

I'd consider stumping the cash provided I know the plans regarding its ownership and re-sale. Had that one been local I'd have bought it, then at least it would have been secure allowing time to decide what's what.

Let's see what else comes up but it would be a good idea to try and get the funds in place, preferably via a large number of members so everybody I'd involved.

Well times are hard and manufacturers seam to be inundated with requests like ours, with having so many people loaning the money through paypal means that paypal would have a field day with commission when sending the money and then again when sending it back, it's a great idea but unless I set up a bank account would it really work?

The plan would be to do a really great job on this rib, I mean pour our hearts and souls into it. Then take it round the Island next May and have the auction at around the same time. Make a load of cash for Macmillan and then have a really good break so people don't get fed up with fundraising all year round.

This was only made possible because one great person donated a rib to us/you to do what we can with it as raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support so they can do their thing and really help people who need it.

In return, companies are going to get great publicity from here and Powerboat and Rib Magazine so it all works out great for everybody.

I suppose there is still loads of time and maybe will get more interest when the work has started and they see what we are made of

Great result so far, let's not get put off by this, I do have second refusal if something goes wrong with that ebay sale for the ribtec so who knows, anyway, chin up dudes

No need for PayPal, I would be happy to write you a cheque or do a bank transfer into your personal account of a £40 MacMillan rib engine loan. We all trust you :-)
