Unfortunately we do not have any for sale. We called in a "favour" to obtain that one that Biff now has. Best thing I should think is to speak to an Avon spares stockist!

Alex and others.

Thank you so much for your kind comments about the new tubes. We are quite proud of them and it was a real pleasure to take on a task such as this in aid of such a worthwhile cause. MacMillan are such a superb bunch of people.

Anyway on to more mundane matters, we have the set of original tubes here and, having looked at them again, I believe that they will "scrub up quite nicely" and the only really major thing that needs to be done is to remove all the old rubbing strake and replace with new. After this is done the tubes would certainly provide many years of useful life. So what I would like to do is the following:-

Restore the tubes to a good condition with new strakes etc, and then offer them to anyone for a sum of £1,500.00 plus VAT. £750.00 of this will need to be paid direct to the Just Giving web site for this project(This therefore avoids paying VAT on this part of the payment). and the balance of £750.00 paid to Henshaw Inflatables Ltd. This part of it will attract VAT at 20%.
I will also include sufficient fabric and Bostik for fitting the tubes. (If the purchaser wanted us to fit we would do this at a nominal charge)

The charity therefore benefits to the tune of another £750.00

I will await the flood of offers!!!. Of course if the purchaser wants to increase their donation to Just Giving just do so!!

Well done.

A "favour" is a wondrous thing and not to be used lightly. Respect!

How much?

Ok Chris, I have to ask; how much would this retube cost? I have an identical boat to this Macmillan rib and am considering retubing.

you can't ask Chris a question like that, this is a one off what you need is some fairy tube cleaner and a handful of green scourer pads

but to save Chris spilling the beans, I bet he hasn't even counted the true cost of what they have done on the MacMillan rib, the new tubes on my SR4 were just over 2k, but that's only a roughish guide

Haha, on balance, over the past 30 years I've found that asking questions you're not supposed to ask has got me a very long way in life so far!

The tubes I have already are fine for now but I'm interested in the cost of a 'proper job' done by the 'A' team. I'm happy to receive a pm from the man himself if he doesn't want to publicise the price but I'd have thought a ball-park figure for a 5.4 re-tube wouldn't have been classified info? The man surely deserves to win some business as a result of his fantastic generosity thus far, doesn't he?

Not interested in refurbed tubes but am very interested in the cost of a new set

I was only jesting Tony, I agree with you that Chris and his team do deserve to win some business from the fantastic gesture they have made, although I'm sure that wasn't the reason they took the work on
