Well done lads

The sun came out later! More pictures will follow. Passage planning tomorrow with possible run to the Isle De Blanc. We did some high speed runs today and the boat performed well.

It's habit so they don't leave fingerprints?

Todays (day 2) of the PB2 donated by 5 Star Marine!

I'm sure that Solent Ranger will be able to fill us in on the details

The winners PB 2 Course

It seems a long time ago now that we all met in Portsmouth for the Launch of the Rib4Macmillan. Well, this weekend saw the proud owners complete their RYA Powerboat Level 2 course at 5 Star Marine in Southampton. Here are some pictures of the 2 days that did not bode well in terms of weather. Be warned, there are a few pix to click through, but I have tried to capture the two days as best I can.

Launch Day - having picked the rib up from Biff on the morning of 4th October, Steve, Steve and Gaz get ready to put her in the water.

It was raining! And not exactly warm!

But we started with the basics!

Then it was some passage planning and chart work - the guys had never been to Cowes, so guess what!

And even with 4 fairly big lads onboard we managed a not to shabby 28 knts.

Into Cowes.

Followed by lunch at anchor in Osbourne Bay, doing 3 point fix and a few knots!

Then it was back to base for a bit more close quarter work and the award of their certificates.

Well done boys.

Then off to recover MacRib - and time to head the 220 miles north.

Due to the limitations on the number of pictures I can put on here, you can see the slide show by following the link - Rib4Macmillan2014 Slideshow by 5_Star_Marine | Photobucket

Congratulations to the lads and to all those that worked on MacRib - she is a great little boat and I think the boys will have great fun with her.

Well that's that, we should give the guys some privacy now, I'm sure they'll post up if they want to share

Just a quick update from me...

The new owners of the MacRib have named her the MacRib and hope to be at the round Isle of wight on the 5th July 2015

I'm off to collect our Douglas Macmillan Award next week for this project and all the cruises

I'm still in contact with many of the MacRib Build Team and they are doing well.

I'm still training with Biffer, I have my own room in his house now, even the ginger cat is warming to me???

I'm hoping to go and spend some time with everyone at Hanshaw Inflatables soon.

I've just checked the stats on this thread and we have had 153,796 hits which is massive

A massive thank you again from me and all at Macmillan Cancer Support!

Rib 4 Macmillan

After years of ownership the owner of the Mac Rib has decided to put her up for sale on eBay: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F273359187275

Looking forward to the next chapter for this Rib.

Good luck you lot!

Alex

Love that rib, someone is going to snag a bargain. Saw it finished at the southampton boatshow, impressive build, certainly looked like the cats whiskers.
