Revenger 715, advice please.

Hi all,

Thinking of upgrading my RiB and spotted a Revenger 715 with a Honda 150 for sale at Devon Boat Centre

Rare 2004 Revenger 715 Sports Rib - Honda 150 hp 4/stroke - 4-wheel trailer

Any thoughts on this as a boat Combo for use in the West of Scotland or buying from Devon BC in general?

Can only find one review of this boat from a while back but seems quite favourable.

Cheers

A

Lovely boat. Economical fast cruiser, Chris Caton has one.

Not such a rough stuff boat. Small tapered tubes. Pointy bow. Bench seat usually. Very nice though.

an excellent choice, the one advertised is very similar to ours with the same engine

the 715 was a package version of the 23ft Revenger, you could have whatever you wanted as long as it was white / blue tapered tubes, rear bench seat with engine well, front bench seat with underseat 120l fuel tank, which is partially set into the deck

take no notice of heathens like HP, they don't appreciate the true race bred heritage of Revengers, true they aren't ever going to replace the current RNLI fleet, but they ain't no fair weather only rib

like any rib, there are good n not so good points, as far as I'm concerned the only negatives are:
front bench seat not as flexible as jockey seats, however it's very comfortable and great for family cruising
fuel tank a little small for size of rib, however engine is economical, so 100miles + range, and space under rear seat for extra fuel tank of spare jerrycans
Revenger was sold to Ribeye last year, so no manufacturers backup any more, although Ribeye, have indicated that they would be happy to help if required, but there is still a very strong following for Revenger and plenty of backup available if you know where to go to ask!

if you want a try of one before splashing any cash let me know, happy to give you a blast along The Menai 😎

the advertised price is a steal, just look how much you'd need to spend on a similar package from Ribeye, Ribquest, Ribcraft, Osprey etc, there's no contest 😉

"Really the West of Scotland" or just "West of Troon"?

If it's "Really the West" then I'd think about a test drive in the ruffstuff first...

No disrespect to Revenger, just saying.

like I said, it'll never be replacing the current RNLI fleet, but if you want a good rib for family cruising, then I'm happy to help with a trial run, I'm guessing Caernarfon is a touch closer than the South Coast 😉

I can only agree with Chris on the Revenger, I have been out on his boat in flat calm and extream weather and it has been faultless.

I sold a boat through Stewart Straw at Devon Boat Center back in 2010 and had no problems with my dealings and would use him again for sale or purchase!

Nice Rib that too

For you're neck of the woods...definitely X2!
Nice leisure type RIBs....if that's your Bag.. but in my experience certainly limited when it cuts up.

Nice looking Ribs, Ive heard they are pretty quick, narrow hull profile. Seems reasonable price for the package.

There is also one for sale, a later model (2009) at Boatilicous in Cobbs Quay Poole, which looks nice.
