Laser sailing dinghy inverted and pinned on a lee shore?

Hopefully the sailors and crews were all ok - looks like a classic time to be thinking "boats we can replace, people, not so much!"

The sailor climbed up the wall and had a long walk of shame back to the club.. about a mile. The Laser was eventually recovered but it was destroyed...the painter broke...for the sake of a halp worth of tar the ship was lost!

He saw the Optimists out and thought he would be ok in a laser. He wasn't! He was in trouble from the start and i cannot understand why he stayed out. The The 11 - 13 year old Optimist sailors and their little underpowered boats were all ok.

The black Lencraft rib got stuck against the wall abeam to the sea, swamped and engine stopped. The Redbay with the cuddy went to their aid and sorted them out. Interesting day... it was flat calm 50 m away in the lee of the piers!

i may have put a anchor down and come to the wall a bit slower, it would have given them more control, it's difficult to say without being there but that's my personal opinion

Not all of them, is that not an optimist being picked up by one of the RIBs? As an ex laser sailor those look extremely tough conditions! An afternoon for a pint in the clubhouse if you ask me!

Result!

Met your old 6.5 (twin 90) on Tory a couple of times, Tino. She seems to be earning her living out there!
