Replacing an elephants trunk on a Searider

Hi, I have an old Searider and the trunk has holes in it so I was planning to remove it and glue some more material on.

Does anyone know what material and glue to use and where to buy it from.

Also any advice on how to do it would be great too.

Thanks in advance.

It's hypalon. Would it not be easier to buy a new trunk?

You can get them from Henshaws too custom made any size or colour. i just bought two for my 5.4sr.(4.0"x19.0") £20 each. at that price its not worth buggering around with them.

Sikaflex and screws as far as I know but I've never fitted them myself.

Are replacing just the hypalon?
I put mine on with a bit of sikaflex and a stainless jubilee clip, mine are the RIBshop ones. Dead easy to fit.

I’m replacing the whole thing. At the moment I have removed the old one and I have a hole in the transom which is around 65 – 68mm so the 68mm kit should be fine with a little work.

I’m quite new to ribs so the reason I am asking advice on this is the bottom of the trunk where it enters the transom will be sitting under the water line so obviously it needs to be a strong joint that will not fail as this will flood the deck.

I’m trying to get my Searider up together for the Searider gathering on 10th Oct so any advice on how to fit this kit would be more than welcome.

The 68mm one from ribshop needs a 70mm hole.
I cut a 68mm hole and sealed it with two coats of resin, by the time you've put resin on its quite a snug fit!. To get the pipe in the hole I had to knock it in with a big rock! I also put sikaflex on the pipe to stop water getting in.

4inch collapsible hose from the local industrial supply house, two 4inch aviation clamps, a couple of grommets, some cord and your good to go for under $20usd.
