Redbay Stormforce 8.4 Expedition

I was on a wee jolly on a new Expedition a couple of days ago - few pics here

been reading though this lot, can anyone get me any idea of the weight of an average 8.4 m redbay, my old boat is 8.5m and i run a yamaha 420sti, without knocking anybody i would like to make some kind of comparision as regards to power to weight and hull lift

1171kg hull weight without engines, thats just whats on their site. Not sure if that helps as you've got the wheelhouse etc to add on too?

that seems massively over weight, i wonder if that is tubes or just a bare hull with nothing in it, if it is my guess is it should be half that weight

as i said not trying to knock, with the engines they're running they should be faster, i know the have bigger tubes, i can only assume the over spec the layup to make them tougher, i tried to get on to there tech bit on the web but it said error 404, i'm sure someone will put me straight soon enough

the thread is interesting re big cabin ribs, with great pics willk re the new redbay being launched Im very curious to see the a new parker cabin rib if the inside is smarter. Also very curious to see the new boats built by the ex redbay person. Im a leisure user not commercial, so more leisure orientated ribs with a cabin that can handle decent sea is great to read about................but Cailin bear hasn't posted for a while

the old grey matter is starting to shut down, i've seen some pic's of a parker cabin and i here they are going more up market with plush interior's, i'm hoping to do a 10 m cabin this year if i get the time, i'm still interested if wilk could find out the layup spec

they were good old boats, we refitted the old souter named gee that won the historic class round britian race the other year, big departure from doing ribs, 40 year old wooden boats need a lot of looking after, i'll be interested in some pic's

The stats on the website are more, Guidelines - Arrrrrr! I assume that they refer to the hull, tubes and other fixtures but (as stated) excluding engines, I'm assuming also excluding lekkie and equipment. I know that a fully gassed up Exp. 8.4 on a trailer weighs about 3.75, so what, just over 2.5 tons with no fuel? If sure Biffer can do the math better than I.
