Redbay Stormforce 6.5

My insurance broker asking about the 'maximum design speed' of the model?

I believe they were rated to maximum outboard power of 225?

Cheers in advance for any pointers.

I think it would be reasonable (its what I have always done) to take your current outboard and current prop* and work out the maximum possible speed. To work it out take the max RPM for the motor. Divide it by the gearbox ratio (usually about 2). Multiply by the prop pitch in inches. That gives you the theoretical speed your boat would do if there was no prop slip at max throttle in INCHES per MINUTE. To convert to Knots, divide that number by 1215.2.

I'd give the inches/min figures to the insurance company, just to mess with their heads[emoji6]

Ha ha ha. The poor woman dealing with the quote is struggling as it is to comprehend boating terminology as it is. [emoji1]
