Redbay boats

Hi,

I would love to hear every thing people know about the Redbay boats, and off course how they perform and handel.

Hi there
We have a 6.5 metre stormforce with a wrap around console that we keep on the west of scotland. It is a great hull for rough weather - we've had it out in some pretty nasty stuff and it handles it all with no problem, and the console means you keep totally dry. It does feel a lot bigger than it is, if that makes sense, and its pretty heavy so needs a decent sized engine - we have a yamaha 225 which pushes it along nicely.

We've had the odd glitch with the electrics but apart from that very happy with it and with the way it handles.

We have had one of the new 8.4m canopy boats since the beginning of April this year and as with Ally S keep it on the west coast of Scotland. It has performed very well in all conditions that I have been out in so far from flat calm to a force 7 across the sound of Jura. It gives a very soft ride with its deep v. The new canopy boat gives the added feature of double berth in the front as well as full use of the deck area on top of the engine bay at the rear.

In the 60hrs so far I have had no problems with the boat and am very pleased with it. It is also proving very economical, over the 60hrs so far it has averaged 23l per hour running at 24kn - 26kn.

The guys at Redbay are very helpful and will answer any questions you have

We were so happy with our 7.4 we bought a brand new 8.4 expedition. Great company to talk to and very helpful. Both boats handel superbly in all conditions. Both burnt about 3 gals an hour on diesel.

Well you've tried the rest now buy the best

, seriously though I'm now on my 3rd Redbay and really cant see past them on the quality and handling. Redbay have a long history of building heavy duty sea kind boats. The majority of Redbays built are for commercial customers i.e Fishery Patrol, Coast Guard, Ferry operators etc.
A lot of their design is based on past experience, I have not yet seen anyone that drives a boat harder in rough weather then Tom McLaughlin, his own boat is more of a test bed than a demonstrator.
If you are seriously looking at Redbay then jump onto a plane for Glasgow and I'll bring you down to Inverkip for a run in a 11m passenger and also Craigs 8.4 is here, and if you like what you see then you can catch a ferry to Ireland and go to the Factory, alternatly if I am not working then we can take the boat

As Redbay say themselves; "when you must go to sea". This is the perfect way to describe Redbay boats. They will plough through almost anything and are a very sure-footed RIB. Have driven an 8.4 and can confidently say that along with the Excalibur 8.0m (www.ribs.ie) they are the most capable boats for their size available IMO.

A truly custom boat, nearly every one churned is different, featuring new design touches and ideas. Alan Priddy has ordered one, he should know a good boat!

and i don't think I've ever heard of a negative comment about any Redbay.

Do you mind me asking, are you considering using it for Seafari like the RIB Unlimited and Revenger?

I don't know anything about the history of Redbay but somone told me some time ago that the hull of the Redbay (stormforce range) is or was a splash from the Osprey Lynx. Is there anybody who can confirm that?

I want to love them, everything about them is quality and people say they are awesome machines in the sea, however I just cannot get away with the looks..

Wish I could, would order one without question

As a Redbay owner they have some very good items going for them.
Mine is an early model and the engine bay design and some gell coat finish are not the best. That said the newer models I have seen this has been rectified.
Just wish I had the spare cash for a cabin version!!!

Yep, you're right, I thought I read a post back along about him taking an 11m to Canada, but it must have been my imagination. He sure does rave about them though!!

Ollie, have you seen any in the flesh because pictures really don't do them any justice. This baby's my favourite, love the dark glasswork!!

They definately are not a splash,
