Thanks all for the replies. Got it on very nicely although due to the stainless steel support on the inside of the transom the “U” bracket on the aux won’t go alll the way down. Some winter modification will sort this. However no main engine interference (height or turn) and is very secure. Click image for larger version

Is that the Redbay that was for sale in Bosuns?
If so is that standard on Redbay?

Yes it is. I don’t think it is standard, the level on the back of the transom has been levelled horizontal on the left of the engine so it is flat (for an aux). On the other side it slopes at about 10 or 15 degrees downwards towards the middle of the transom.

It seems to have been done very well though (I suspect professionally) - it is hardly visible and I had to look twice myself to realise.

You're bang on the money - Tom McLaughlin (personally) cut that transom during build to accommodate an Aux.

Thanks - nice to know. The issue I have is that with the screw fitting bolts opened right up (to the point the disc pops off) I can’t get them to fit over the stainless steel transom plate. Any ideas? I need about 1mm!

A) stick the disc on a grinder to find the space?

B) brute force with a ratchet strap?

C) do away with the disc and drill a small 3mm pilot hole for the threaded bar in the steel plate?

Ta

A or C are traditional solutions, with C the general favourite. There is variance between manufacturers and models, it's always tight.

Thanks for the wisdom. I think, given the steel discs are easily replaceable (I assume!), I will try that first.

Had to do the same with the discs on mine.

Felt bad taking an angle grinder to a new engine but it did the trick and you soon forget. Time the engine and boat manufactures got their heads banged together.

Same here. I filed about 1mm off the face of the 2 discs on the outboard clamps and it goes on fine.
Was the same with my last aux.
