RIBase
Question if I may, why a SIB and not a rib?

You seem happy with a trailer and with a 5k budget you should be able to pick a 4.5-5m rib which will give you more stability, better seats and room to grow.

I found I our grew the sib, very, very quickly.

Look on Gumtree every day under Ribs and at this time of year you will soon find one. I think the 4 - 5 m range would suit with 50 - 60 hp on the back. Should be able to pick one up easily for that budget

I,m thinking between 3 and 4m as I have a 17 ft centreconsole fast fishing boat ,it needs to be handy for a lot of the marks I spear fish ,i'm thinking a max of 20hp .Any brands I should be focusing on ?
I see Zodiacs mentioned a lot ,anything else ?

With a max of 20 hp I would choose a 3.4 m rib. I have one with a 15 hp on and it is great fun Mine is Valiant D340 which I think is a nice rib. I just upgraded to a 4.5 m Rib for a bigger version but kept my 3.4 m also and would never intend to sell that as it is so versatile and very cheap to run

I assume thats a 4m Searider.

If so the buyer needs to understand the flooding hull. For fishing I think this is a plus. I presume you stop the boat to spear fish. I didn't quite understand his 20HP spear fishing marks thing...?

Flooding hull means that below the deck floods with water through two small holes at the front of the boat. So when you are stopped you have a big lump of weight below you making the boat very stable. When you try to go back on the plane, inertia empties the hull through a bigger hole at the back of the boat. Its very effective, and despite how it may sound its very safe. But it does mean suddenly moving off can be a little slow while you empty the ballast out. Some people blank off the holes.

IMHO a 3.4m rib is more of a tender. Not saying it wont meet your needs but its not going to be as versatile as a 4+m Rib
