I assume you mean 1st service ? I paid less than £600 for 2 x 3 year/300 hour services on my 115's & the next ones aren't due for another 3 years. How much would I pay for the equivalent services on Hondas in 6 years based on your rates?

As to needing instant grunt & power, when you're sliding backwards down the back of a wave.....................................

Or, as I said in post #18, £420 ish for the 3 year service on a 200 etec at a main dealer.

Yup, but when you've got your fingers in your ears & your eyes shut chanting Honda, Honda, Honda it's easy to miss

Is that like running around with a Ferrari motor on the stereo because your engine is too quiet?

There's a funny 80s Renault advert with that, I can't seem to find it though

Hi

this and never was about Honda vs Etec it was more about people saying how great the etec was. Now Polly seems to insist that we should back these claims up and hay I am sure he will be delighted if you can be bothered.

the two stroke vs 4 stroke though is more interesting and if we all do our homework and understand how they both work he we see the very simple cause and effect i.e.

2 stroke create power on every cycle 4 strokes dont this = better acceleration for the 2 stroke

2 stokes mix oil and petrol for lubrication which is not a good solution and very wasteful so they dont last as long and burn more fuel. Oh and if you dont like this please argue your point with the worlds engine makers and not me as it is them who say this not me

oh and lets been v v clear on this as I am sure I will be asked to repeat it again and again and again. this goes for all 2 strokes and all 4 strokes and it is not ETEC bashing yet!. as I posted previously there is lots of info on this online that will confirm what I am saying so why not focus on how they work and then it is v obvious why a 2 stroke burns more fuel and why a 4 stroke does not accelerate as quickly

Oh Picky dave. whilst you are chanting ETEC , ETEC , ETEC ( its funny how you say i have been chanting Honda when all i have done is mention a first service cost but this will now change) then re your comment about servicing would mean the Honda would win. small point and off topic as any competent manic can self service. oh and they dont need to be fitted either so the honda wins there. Oh and now the new honda's of that size use "BLAST" so there is even less of difference in acceleration

Noticeable, particularly during periods of rapid acceleration, BLAST™ effectively boosts performance by adjusting the air/fuel ratio for maximum torque while advancing ignition timing to its maximum pre-knock level to increase torque under full-load conditions.

oh and they have a patent on the eco mode as well giving even better again fuel consumption.

oh and did I say that they dont limit the warranty to 750 hours or 5 years and that we get commercial engines in under warranty with over 5000 hours and they still have lots of life in them. Oh and the honda would not need refitting by dealer if sold under warranty.

oh and Honda know how to get a phone line working. yes I know this is not a big thing but when you go to Contact Us from the United Kingdom and Ireland | BRP United Kingdom & Ireland and call the number it has had the same message for over a year.

mmmm not "chanted" about honda for a while and it feels good. Oh spo our other products dont feel left out .....Mariner also rocks and does tohatsu and so does opti's . oh and honwaves and parts for most engines and the postal service / courier service also rocks which is why we can send all these things across the UK at amazing prices.

Dave
