Re-strakinga rib

Hi folk

Hope some one might be able to help...

I am planning to replace the rubbing strake on chinook rib as it has perished and leaves black marks on anything that touches it. However, I have fallen at the first hurdle...

I cannot work out how to get the old one off.I have tried heat-both hot air and stream, and have tried a solvent.these help a little, but it is still painfully slow.

Does anyone have any top tips?

Thanks in advance
Paul
