No sure I see what your concern is with the logo...

Humber's logo has no middle to the B

Its a cut out of yellow mounted on a black backing. If there are bits showing through on the backing - its purely cosmetic... so probably depends what paint you have available.

Not so much a concern though I’m sure it was originally black lettering. Think I’ll just buy some Polymarine hypalon lettering paint, doing the rest of the boat so may as well bring the lettering back up to its former glory!

So not really done anything since last photos, but checked flow coat and all gone off nicely, started to position seating etc to get a feel for exactly where I want things to go Click image for larger version

Hi, nice looking build I'm assuming you've finished now? What did you do with the old Console and Seats?

Hi there, thanks! Not finished yet, delayed with busy weekends and have fixed two engines in the meantime ready for sale, one sold the other will be on sale soon once I’ve given it a final check over (funds for the rebuild haha). I’m hoping to finish by end of July realistically

Old console and seats I sold separately

A quick google shows no consistency. Either they fall off or Humber fitout policy is flexible. Placing letter centers would be very tricky to get right as the human eye will detect the slightest misplacement in that application.

After our first Son arrived through winter then coronavirus and losing my job the renovation went on hold - I have now found a little time to make some progress - albeit slow.

Bench seat sanded and flow coated, needs sanding down as finish isn’t perfect and if ok when sanded smooth will fine sand then polish, otherwise will do a second coat of flow coat then sand again - labour intensive I know but had some flow coat spare so wanted to see how good a finish could be had.

Then made template for in console shelf. Have some OSB board which I will then cut using the template and fibreglass then flow coat once in place.

Hope everyone is well!Click image for larger version

Congratulations on the arrival of your son - you do start to wonder what you did with all your time pre children.

Commiserations on the job. Sadly I think there are a lot of people in the same position.

Good work on the seat. Is OSB board the same stuff that Stresspill is using on his SR6?

Great job, very pleased to see your progress.

Whenever you're ready for a sea trial, happy to come along as a support boat.

Thanks Guy, you are absolutely right! Finding time is that extra bit difficult nowadays, even with the loss of job! Thankfully on the job front I have an opportunity which I am hoping to secure, been a busy few weeks job hunting!

OSB board is the same I think, it’s waterproof but unlike marine ply it has a rough texture so the fibreglass will get a better attachment.

Some pics of some basic wiring. I originally was looking at a twin battery set up, drew this out for a so how battery, now I’m wondering whether I should go back to twin battery.

1) Any glaring mistakes in my drawings below for a single battery set up?
2) does anyone have or can help with a drawing of how a twin battery setup would work with what I have drawn out? Was thinking perhaps one of those BEP battery management systems for charging / isolation but unsure how it would look with an extra battery connected up.
3) has anyone thought of having the second battery for the electrics as a li-ion battery? If so what capacity? Or that not much good and best having two acid batteries so there is a back up starter battery?

You will note I’m looking to put the battery boxes in the rear bench (will be watertight except for vent on top of it. This is for a couple of reasons but primarily, I have made the console shelf and not sure if it would take 1-2 Heavy batteries.

Thanks for any suggestions but particular thanks for any wiring diagrams to help with connecting all batteries up.

Thank you

From your battery I'd go fuse and then isolator.

https://www.bluesea.com/systems/42/2...ctrical_System

is an example diagrammatic which shows the charging relay.

Ordinarily when you get to your console you would attach the +ve from the battery to a fuse box which protects the individual circuits - VHF, chart plotter etc.

https://www.bluesea.com/products/502..._Bus_and_Cover

I tend to use Blue Sea but there are lots of others at various price / quality points.

12V Planet has some quite good guides on wiring and things like voltage drop which does have an effect if you have cable running several metres.

Someone else was talking lightweight batteries recently but I can't recall who it was.

My setup....

Firstly I have the bilge pump fused power coming from the permanent side of the isolator to its own 3 way switch, this way the bilge pump will always have power regardless.

Secondly I have the VHF, plotter from a fuse box not a switch panel, these devices already have a power button on them so no need for another one, they are also configured to “auto on” so when the boats power is switched on they turn themselves on.

My 4 gang switch panel has nav light, anchor light, deck light and AUX power.

Thanks both, really useful! That Blue Sea Diagram is also very useful and easy to understand - perfect, thank you. I’ll have a loop at BEP to see which suits better, the BEP unit seems to combine the functions into a cluster.

I did ask last year about LI-Ion batteries, conclusion being they aren’t good enough yet to start the engine. But wonder if it’s a good idea, to save weight, to have one as the second battery for all the appliances. Or if a second battery I useful as a backup starter then I guess it’s best just to have two powerful normal marine batteries then switch them in the future if technology advances to produce lighter powerful starter batteries. What capacity do ppl usually use?

Thanks
