Very kind Barry, I'll bear that in mind although I doubt it would be worth the detour!

The RB12 race was going to Conwy, but we are trying to stop in the biggest population areas for maximum coverage, and whilst logistically Conwy or Deganwy would be better from the boat point of view it doesn't fulfil the sponsors criteria.

From memory Blackpool is tidal and Southport only has a pier from the look of it?

Not really - had some suggestions and I'm in the middle of collating the information which has come in various forms - Someone suggested St Catherine's? We need to be going as far as possible at least at cruising speed to avoid long slow runs at 6mph after a long day on the water and the same the following day - On the other hand as I have said above we need to maximise the publicity!

Guessed as much. I don't think there is are a great many options, the only other one I have come up with is Liverpool Sailing Club, they have an excellent facility with good access to the Mersey, next to John Lennon Airport, I've emailed the Club Sec, I'll let you know what the response is.

Hi Lee,

Just going back over the PM's - thanks for your advice and I think Chelsea sounds like a good place for the night although I don't know where we would park the vehicles!

We are probably going to have a motor home and two vans (one is converted to sleep three)

It would be much easier and more sensible from a logistical point of view to just stop in Ramsgate but where would the fun be in that?

Maybe worth a stop in N Wales as Chris sugested, There's a sea triathlon taking place in Llandudno on the 23rd which should attract plenty of publicity and there'll be loads of enthusiastic generous tourists around at that time of year. Worth checking other events
Maybe you could have a bucket or barrel for donations on the way. Either way im sure if you give an address for now where members could send a cheque donation that would be a good start. And surely there's some publicitas people here on RIBnet that could raise awareness and get the publicity you need.
Personally I think there should be some sort of power boat event in the olimpits, And it looks like Cookee has got Gold medal for this years round Britain challenge .
Well done for your team spirit.
