Radar reflectors or hazard to shipping?

I bought a Powerboat radar reflector after all and fitted it Saturday. Went out for a run today in the flat calm of 47nm. somewhere between 30 and 40 nm into the run it fell off!
The bracket has snapped where it joined onto the bottom of the tube.
The question is has anybody else had one of these and is it still on the boat?. I wouldn't mind so much but if it snapped in the flat stuff then it wasn't going to last
I am going to call and kick up a fuss tomorrow, it cost around a pound a mile for the short time it was fitted, not a good rate of return on its cost at all

Happened to me on the M5 doing 75mph.
Was it a black base and cap with a clear tube and the metal "v"s visable inside?

Was very annoyed but shop replaced FOC. I`ve now mounted on the A frame using zip ties. Looks sh*t and no where near as useful.

Same thing, just snapped and fell off sometime during the day. Is being replaced FOC and I will make up a small steadying bracket near the top when remounted to stop it happening again.
