Rack Storage

Hi All,
Are there any marinas West of Poole that offer Rack Storage suitable for a 5 to 5.5m RIB with launch/recovery staff always available during reasonable hours?
I know of Cobbs Quay at Poole but was hoping to find somewhere further down the South Coast.
Cheers,

Orve

How far west are you looking for - the next one is Plymouth - run by Yacht Havens ( the same people that run Lymington Haven Quay) There is a lot more choice going east as far as Southampton - Southampton Dry Stack and I understand MDL have a few.

I keep mine at Plymouth, very helpful and friendly staff.

The site is still being developed so storage is outdoors for now (should be inside late summer).

Thanks for this.
Sorry to sound dim, but where in Plymouth? and is that permanently or 'seasonal'?

Cheers,

Orve.

....and, sorry , can you get the RIb put in and taken out as often as you like?

Is there a further charge for this?

How much notice of a launch do you have to give?

Cheers,

Orve

At Plymouth there is no limit to the number of times they lift in and out, they would do it every day if you ask.
We often use the Rib on a sat and sunday, as long as we get back before they go home (about 6) they take it out and put it back in the next morning.

Notice depends on how busy they are. They ask for 2 hours and have never been late. We have been a bit cheeky a couple of times and just turned up, they had the rib in the water in about 20 mins both times. Although I would not expect them to and I am always prepared to wait in a nearby pub

It's all year round, although in the winter they may take the weekend off so you would need to ask them to put the rib in on a friday afternoon, then they will lift out on monday morning.

As far as I know they do seasonal or short term, you would need to ask them to find out for sure.

They are just off the Morisons roundabout. (yellow triangle in pic)

Thanks Tim,
This is great information and just what I think I'm looking for.

Just to clarify one thing, are all the lifts included in the storage cost or are they extra each day and do they put the boat in the water way up there or down at the Yacht Haven near Mountbatten? (whoops sorry two things ;-) )

..and am I right in thinking it is just under 2k for the whole year?

Cheers,

Orve.

All the lifts in and out (+ one onto a trailer) are in the fee.
They jet wash the hull on each lift out.
They put the boat in the water there at Yacht haven quay which is about 3 mins (by water) from Mountbatten.
They have a pontoon that the boat can be left on if needed.
There are most trades you would need on site (apart from a proper chandeliers).
Starting this monday the Fork lift is out of action as the whole site is being brought up to one level ready for the storage shed and cafe/loo/reception building to be built. My boat has been taken round to Yacht haven (by moutbatten) marina for the next few weeks at no charge.

Give them a call (Will site manager) and have a chat, nice blokes and no hard sell. 01752 481190

Working on what I think is the min chargeable length (6.4) then, yes a little under 2000 is about right.

At that price for a 6.4 racked and stacked! I would take it, I was quoted 5000 for solent area!!!
