Question for all the smokers out there...

Can anyone recommend a lighter that will work after a good drenching while out when hands are wet and cold and there is rain, spray, and general water everywhere..

PS not for use on a boat per say but a much wetter pursuit....

These will strike and burn for 5 seconds in rain. Your fags won't light though 'cos they'll be sopping...

Stopped years ago, but for boating, fishing & other outdoor pursuits a zippo was as good as I found for use in all weathers. If there's flammable liquid at the wick & you can get a spark it will work.
If you run out of lighter fluid they'll work with petrol - bit smoky though. You don't need to fill it with petrol, a couple of drips onto the wick will do the job.

That said, if you can get a spark then a gas lighter should also work but they do need a bit more shelter for he flame.

you can get gas ones that don't burn as a flame they sort of heat an element up supposed to be able to light a gag in a gale .why you would want to is another matter

Are they submersible? Or at least very very damp proof ?

I would say yes. The ce4 type I smoke has a rubber cap over the mouthpiece and the battery could easily be waterproofed with a bit of insulation tape.

I had one of those branded as Silva, didn't last long. I've got one of these now & had it for about 5 years & still going strong
