Not sure how well different police forces communicate with each other.....

But if you are in Essex try registering your vessel here...

Marine Watch

It should mean instant verification of rightful ownership.

Got to say I'm a bit surprised at some of the posts here.

It's all a bit hypocritical to say 'uuuurrrr bluddi feeves tye em up by the bolox', blame the police for not doing anything for the fact that it happened in the first place (you're not everywhere at once-why do you expect them to be?) and then start NIMBYing.

I'm a little surprised to....as far as I'm concerned I'm happy to be stopped anytime at all in car or towing.

If I'm legal it's not a problem and a chat and a few minutes of my time are small price to pay if it means some robbing sod does get caught sometime.

if I'm illegal..fair cop etc...

Yep..and I get emails from the local marine section with what's going on.

Seems to be worth following police twitter etc if you're into social media..(I'm not )

Police proof of ID. this reminds me off an email i sent not to long ago, one of my employees was on the bog when factory was locked up for the evening,

from: Eddie Gracie
Sent: 15 January 2013 09:59
To: Victor Lovett; All Staff [Birmingham]
Cc: Richard Pike
Subject: RE: signing in and out

Also,
Please do not run off when the police arrive it caused me lots of grief,

Police-Who am I

Me -…err the key holder,,

Police-can you prove it

Me – just unlocked and reset they alarm with full reset only my self and my boss know this code, plus I have a set of keys in my hands

Police – have you any ID, as you may have found them on the car park (keys and fob)fare comment I suppose

Me - yes my driving licence and credit card,, (it was carols the wife’s)

Police- why is that in your wallet when its not yours .also driving licence does not prove you work here,,,

Me –walked dibble to my desk, on wall is our internal and mobile phone list with my name upon it,.., in fact check my mobile, the last call was from a Vic Lovett my immediate boss, asking me to attend.,
So as to release the our Employee Damian, ,,,his name is also on the list,, he was called by our alarm activation response team, same bodies that notify you,
Check with them, as I recently updated there contact details my self only last week,
they have Victor Lovett, Roger Duncan, Kieran Mulkerrins and my self as the 4 principle key holders, all numbers are there on the board, call either or all of them, ,passed him a phone

Me – ask me any thing you want I can answer it or show you around the building with ease. I have access to keys for just about every lock in the building, and if log you on the my computer, I can bore you to death with OZZ holiday . pics, . in fact I have the only key to set the fire alarms off, shall I ? getting pretty pissed awf by this time,,

Police -that is fine,, we only have a job to do, but when your lad run off it pissed us off running in the snow, he pointed at some dibble type officer, Brian fell over , (he started laughing then)

Why di d you run Damian, did they just storm at you and it made you panic,?

If you ever get pulled by the rozzers do what this guy did when stopped...

A Cavan driver is pulled over by a Garda on the N3 from Dublin on his way home. The Garda approaches the driver's door.

"Is there a problem Garda ?"

The Garda says, "Sir, you were speeding. Can I see your license please?"

The driver responds, "I'd give it to you but I don't have one."

"You don't have one?"

The Cavan man responds, "I lost it four times for drink driving."

The Garda is shocked. "I see. Can I see your vehicle registration papers please?"

"I'm sorry, I can't do that."

The Garda says, "Why not?"

"I stole this car."

The Garda says, "Stole it?"

The man says, "Yes, and I killed the owner."

At this point the Garda is getting irate. "You what!?"

"She's in the boot if you want to see."

The Garda looks at the man and slowly backs away to his car and calls for back up. Within minutes, five Garda cars show up, surrounding the car. A senior Garda from the serious crimes squad slowly approaches the car, clasping his half drawn gun.

The senior Garda says "Sir, could you step out of your vehicle please!"

The man steps out of his vehicle. "Is there a problem Garda ?"

"One of my men told me that you have stolen this car and murdered the owner."

"Murdered the owner?"

The Garda responds, "Yes, could you please open the boot of your car please?"

The man opens the boot, revealing nothing but an empty boot.

The Garda says, "Is this your car sir?"

The man says "Yes," and hands over the registration papers.

The Garda, understandably, is quite stunned. "One of my Garda claims that you do not have a driving licence."

The man digs in his pocket revealing a wallet and hands it to the Garda. The Garda opens the wallet and examines the license.
He looks quite puzzled. "Thank you sir, one of my Gardas told me you didn't have a license, stole this car, and murdered the owner."

The man replies, "I bet you the lying bastard told you I was speeding, too!"

Wife of Man: "I told you you were doin' 50, Michael"

Hmmm, just read that. I'm gonna have to sharpen up before Easdale:

"Evasive answers to common boating questions; deliberate attempts to avoid contact with others or draw attention. Unusual activity, particularly late at night or early in the morning.

Lack of or inappropriate equipment and knowledge for the environment. For example, boats moving at night with no navigational lighting; or crews of above average size, poor boat handling or inadequate dress. "

Wonders if your boat is registered on CG66 would help proving ownership?
