Protector for bow tube

I saw this RIB at a yard in Cornwall a couple of weeks ago. I was in a real rush so just took a couple of quick snaps on my phone camera.

The tube around the bow is protected by a GRP moulding, which is bolted onto the hull under the tube. Stainless rails attached to the top of the moulding loop over the tube and bolt down on the inside onto the deck.

It was not the best quality of workmanship, but I thought it an ingenious alternative to a hard nose RIB. It certainly made the boat look aggressive!

Rib Bling, Nice

Seriously, I do like it, and can understand how it could be useful.
Not for stuffing though.
