Protective flooring - advice

Does anybody know or use any protective flooring in the bottom of their RIB's. I am looking for something that I can cut to the internal shape of the boat, can roll up and remove, is non-slip, water will drain through, and does not cost a fortune.

Just want to put it in the bottom of my boat for diving to protect the deck.

I have tried swimming pool suppliers and lot's of other things but every thing I find seems to cost a fortune.

Any ideas?

Caravan or camping shops sell rolls of what I can only describe as 'fake waffle shaped grass' that people use to line the floors of awnings.
I think it will fulfil most of your criteria. Not sure about it's longevity with bits of diving gear being dragged across it but it's worth a look mebbe.

.......thing Robin suggests. I recently bought a big roll (100cm x 500cm) of that stuff you see some dipsticks using on their dash boards. It's like a rubber mat which looks like a waffle. You can buy them in Halfords for about 99p. The roll I bought was £7.00 from CostCo. It's really hard wearing, easy to cut and once in place it doesn't move.

Remember seeing something on bar matting that they use in night clubs when people are sloshed and spilling their drinks everywhere the barperson keeps their feet dry(er) and out of the liquid..........so no slipping on the floor.

I think it's called conveyor belt matting.....I assume because they also use it for conveyor belts.....or was it's original purpose!?

Not sure on the price though, but I know a lot of the fishermen around Guernsey use it on their boats.

........than trying to protect the whole deck area (expensive - time consuming - unattractive) etc. Why not just cover/coat the offending items which may cause damage/marking instead ?

you could try a company called arco i put a matt down in my old rib and have the same stuff in my new one only problem is not too easy to roll up but water can run through it and it will last forever not too cheap i think about 200 to 300 pounds to do 7.5 meter rib. but in my mind best stuff for dive rib. iff needing any more info on it you can e mail me at tonkawallace@hotmail.com.

I had a Humber Rib once with what they described as heron rib deck matting. I think that is the stuff you need.

Have you looked at the matting which pubs have behind the bars. I am friendly with someone who has had this fitted to their deck of an 7.5m Tornado, and must say it works very well. He uses it to protect the deck from diving bottles. Very durable and non slip. It is of a hard plastic material, with square holes cut out of it for drainage purposes. Dont know where you could get it from though. Have you spoken to Ribcraft to see what they suggest.
