Are you taking the reading from a GPS or the speedometer?

well on a calm sea say with full fuel and 2 persons the max is 31/32 knots (reading from the GPS) and the revs are just over 4100, mind you I have a 21" stainless steel "LASER II" prop

the weight of my Parker 630 Rapier Diesel with full fuel and no persons - 1050kg

Mike C has a Humber 630 with the same engine and a 23" alu prop. We do a lot of crusing together and both ribs are compatable in speed

With the Mercruiser 1.7L TDI I find 38+ difficult to believe but if possible then great but that will be down to the correct prop selection.

Have you been impressed with yours?

Any problems?

What kind of litres per hour/mile do you get?

Merc 120

Jono

Guernsey to Weymouth yesterday 2hrs 40mins bit sloppy off Guernsey,

Then Weymouth to Ocean Village Flat out 4 persons on board
In the heavier off the two ribs 32- 34 kts on the GPS all the way with a dirty bottom as she has been in the marina for a few weeks.

just over half a tank of fuel approx 18 gallon

Humber claim to have over 40kts with their rib???

Jahno!

I hv had my Parker 630 Rapier with the Mercruiser 1.7L DTI since August 2002 . Todate I have clocked on 186 hours and I am convinced it is the best inboard diesel for that size rib (6.0 to 6.5 max)
As for the runnings costs well take for example the Weymouth cruise. Left Littlehampton on a full tank and in Yarmouth topped up for a tenner. Then having got to Weymouth , the weather was quite rough and 4 persons onboard and again the fuel bill was 12 pounds

The best example I usually give is our cruise to Cherbourg.
From Nab Tower 66 Nm, crusing speed 26/28 knots in very calm sea all the way to Cherbourg. 2 persons on board.

We covered this distance in 3 hours and in Cherbourg put 46 liters into the tank. ( I topped up the fuel tank at Nab Tower from a jerry can as we had travelled from Littlehamptom)

Mike C was in his Humber 630 with the same engine and fuel consumption was the compatable

Interesting what Georgec has to say having been down for a demo on my Seahawk

I could be wrong about this but am 99% sure Im not.

Mentioning no names the last owner had a slight accident with it.

Apparently it left Yarmouth one evening, and somehow it's 2 crew managed to fall out the boat, they swam ashore . However, the lifeboat was called (Yarmouth offshore) and the RIB that was still going at quite a rate punctured a whole in the side of the lifeboat and did quite a bit of damage to the both boats (lifeboat was on hard for quite a while).

It is moored near me in Lymington and although has been repaired by someone who does know what they are doing the bow tube still goes down.

Id be carefull on that one.

Jason is not exhibiting at the 2004 London show but will be visiting during the last weekend of the event. If anyone wants to meet him for a chat, e-mail him to make arrangements.

Jahno - no, I will not be getting a Prosport - of any description.

Simmons0 - Paul is very committed to a number of manufacturers, not least Parker Ribs. His presence, at LBS, aligned to any particular manufacturer is a mystery - email him at paul.lemmer@ribnet.com and then you can let us all know.

Why not? If you're representing the company it would seem a bit strange to run something different yourself!

John - this was I direct reply to Jahno if you read his question properly. Cabin Rib, open rib etc , none of those, doing something entirely different.
