Prosport

So, what does Charles know that he can't make public?
I too am considering a new 7.5 Prospsort, which, I assume, will be second hand once it's crossed the water to the mainland.

Won't it?

This allusion to "something being up" is concerning.

I have had 2 Scand Dynamics in Jersey which were great fun. I've been in London for 3 years, but am now back on the rock and badly need to get back on the water. I have decided that a rib is the way to go. I wonder how many others out there have been converted from GRP cruiser to rib??

I can see we will have a serious Rib flotilla in Jersey for extended French coast cruising next season.

Charles, you are either winding me and Jahno up, or you really should be telling!
Why not go ordering a Prosport yet? 'Too late' came the cry.

Windchill, it's not second hand just 'cause it crossed to the mainland that's for sure, but I don't know what constitutes used. If anyone does know, it might be worth your while posting as a number of us (unless Charles drops a bombshell) could make a saving.

Prosport - Official Announcement

I started a thread a little while ago about Prosport Ribs and attached some pictures as a number of people were asking me what I thought about these ribs. The attraction was first and foremost, the competitive pricing of these boats and the very next question everyone seemed to ask was how they can be so much cheaper in comparison to other manufacturers; are they cutting corners, is the build quality shoddy etc, etc.

It’s quite simple really, and it’s all to do with overheads. The company is run out of a farm, rent is negligible, they do not have loads of staff and possibly they are working smarter!

Due to the unprecedented interest in these ribs a UK dealer has been officially appointed as of today. Paul Lemmer will take charge of all enquiries from the UK; he will have two Prosport Ribs on hand to demo to any prospective clients. All the ribs will have a 5 year warranty on tubes and hull as well as the manufacturers warranty on the engine. Paul is extremely excited to have gotten involved as he has seen the operation first hand and believes that the product is excellent. A ringing endorsement indeed ! Paul can be contacted here.

I will look after the Jersey interest, Paul, Jason and I will work closely together, as there is a firm belief that ribs are generally way overpriced and a good, seaworthy craft can be manufactured and delivered for a lot less than most other manufacturers.

I do apologise for keeping everyone in suspense as I was not at liberty to say anything until this morning. Please feel free to contact me if there is any further information you require.
Anyone interested in placing an order, requiring a quote or simply want to talk about Prosport Ribs - please contact Paul directly.

I'll keep saving my pennies until I can afford a decent sized one.

Cheers

AWESOME RIB!!!

Just got back from the Guernsey trip. Jason could not have been more accomodating. Lifts to and from the airport (Note this, if you make a trip, taxi's don't run Sunday mornings). Full inspection of the workshop and employees. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. I spec'd my layout and equipment and Jason made very sensible suggestions to utilise space.
The employee laying a hull is experienced and very clean and accurate in his work. The workmanship runs through to the finish on the boat. It is clean, neat and an awesome looking package.
The demo on Saturday involved a 6.5m 120hp diesel which ran upto about 40mph. The ride was smooth, very smooth. No slippage in a full lock turn at full throttle from a standing start.
There was a 2' chop and in head, following or beam sea the boat wasn't affected. No slamming at all.
The beam is ample for a double console and room to pass comfortably round it between the tubes.
Attention to detail stands out on these ribs and I'll post some piccies mid week with some detail of the hull etc.

All in all a great trip and I'm buzzing now. Roll on March!!!!!
If you are thinking of a Pro Sport, and I know a few of you are, take a trip to Jason. It is well worth the visit, especially with the amount of money you are thinking of shelling out.

If you have any questions post them here or PM me. If I can't answer them, I know a man who can, as I took my Technical Advisor and fellow drunk!

Yep the 9M was the one AFTER mine!
No colour listed though, BLACK would be good!

Nothing firmed up with distributors yet as far as I could make out, but obviously talks have been going on. Don't know what stage they are at.

Yep, it was a good trip but I wouldn't recommend trying to exceed your duty free allowance when travelling with Yasser Greenwood. His swarthy complexion makes him look like an arab terrorist which attracts the customs men like flies. He thinks he looks inconspicuous in a crowd but the fact that he's nearly nine foot tall belies this. The air hostess asked him to move to the back of the plane because it was out of trim.

Guernsey is a nice place but it's full of very old people. I had a sneaking suspicion that Yasser had booked us into a nursing home rather than a hotel. This was confirmed when I found a rubber sheet on the bed and a commode by the side of it.

Many thanks to Jason for his hospitality.
