Be cautious is the best advice. Some were fine, others not quite so. Check it over carefully for any cracks or splits in the gel coat, and make sure the tubes hold air and are well adhered to the flanges. If that is all ok, then its a good'un.

Well despite the ignorant comments of some people they are fine boats - the problem was they were built by a complete scumbag!!!

A lot depends on who built the tubes. If they were built by Paul Tilley you wont have any problems at all. Having said that if it's a 2004 boat any problems will have shown up by now. Make sure you look at the hull out of the water - again any problems will be apparent by now.

If its in good condition you don't need to worry. It is one of the finest hulls you can get anywhere - it's basically a Revenger clone but with a fuller bow and more beam. It's one of the driest rides and the softest rides there is.

The 8.5m is a very big boat - actually more of a 9m or more. A 7.5m version set the around Anglesey record and the bloke loves his boat.

Try to stick some pictures of the one you are looking at on here.

Ahh you mentioned "new".

Some of the fnishing details can be scabby - the ONLY 2 things I am annoyed about on mine is the transom well - it's just an almost square hole cut through the deck - no finishing grate on it like most have - of course that's very easy to fix when I get around to it. Also the bow rope guide isn't on quite straight.

Other than that the quality is fine - I have compared it to many other RIBs and I really wouldn't change it - except for an Ocean Dynamics that costs £150,000!!!
