Hi Manos
Sorry not very clear - sort of mud like wasn't it
What I meant was I hope yours is much faster than the one we sold.
Having looked at the photos it's a completely different craft so disreguard the last post.
Have fun
Jelly

Manos, hate to say this but Rupert Bear is right you have no chance of getting 28 knots with 40 hp. MPH possibly but not knots regardless of what the sales blurb or manufaturers says. Best chuck it into the water use a hand held GPS and let us know what is does.

My 5.2 Sparrowhawk in racing format with new 60 hp Merc did 26 knots at WOT. Thats 30 mph.

If we are out in a gale I will stay on the 8m if you don't mind

Pete

Pete thanks. Speed is not the issue here. Even if it doas 25 knots @ WOT and 8-10 in a gale I'm happy.
In any case will test it and let you all know

Manos, fair point. That engine cover looks awfully big for a 40, is it a down rated 60/70 engine ?

Don't know Pete but the engine type is SJ40 and is Heavy duty for commercial use.
The surveyor told me today that this engine can push the boat with full load through a brick wall. So I assume that it must have loads of CCs.
WATERCRAFT just faxed me a few documents from the calssification societies and SOLAS but I do not have the full paper load yet. So I do not know engine capacity details and the like.

Edit: ENGINE TYPE SJ40RPLB-40HP
