Priory Bay - yesterday (26th)

I launched from Langstone yesterday & went across to Priory Bay on the IoW with my missus & youngest boy. When we got there it was RIB city! Loads of RIBs anchored off.

Was anyone from here there?

We're going again today (sea state dependant) with the missus and both boys.

If you saw a RIB after you got there then that'll do!

We were there, 8metre yellow Scorpion.
Awesome weather, shame the sun has yet to come out today.

Lucky mucker! My kids love Priory Bay.

Which slip did you use in Langstone? I used to use Broadmarsh but worry about security leaving the car there.
Also the anti-pikey bollards were difficult if not impossible to get the trailer past.

We were there too, and it was really busy. Anchored today for a quick picnic lunch. One of our favourite spots to drop the hook at.

We were the 6m Ribeye anchored in the middle of 2 other Ribeyes! We went today too and it wasn't as warm (or as busy) but the boys loved it. The wind picked up on the way back and it was an "interesting" return journey!

I launch from Langstone marina by the Langstone hotel. It's £22 per launch/recover or £200 per year but is pretty much a full tidal range slip with jetty and is pretty safe to leave the trailer.

Yeah Wittering was packed as we came past it out of the Chichester channel both yesterday and today. We've got a week off soon so it may well be doing the quiet midweek trips!

Strangely it looks worse than it was on that video! It was busy, but there was enough room for all the RIBs/cruisers/dinghys, etc and people to swim too.

It's a lovely bay, but for anyone that's not been there before - watch out for the sand bar that appears offshore at low water!!! (Take your boat out before the pool dries up).

Boats don't raft up together there? That is a whole of boats anchored at beach. Is the beach accessible by car too?

Thanks for sharing the vid. I watched another one on the area too. It is interesting to see where you folks go boating.

Peter that's not where normal folks go boating. That's like when someone says they like going walling on a Sunday and someone posts a picture of them walking round a mall...

That video was my living hell of boating.

When you've got a boat and two young boys, why not use it to get to a beach? Doesn't make us "not normal". And if "normal" boaters use their boats to go to sea and play, it was a 17 mile trip for us at an average of 20 knots which is a good leg stretcher for the old girl.

It was busy but looks worse on the video than it actually was. I'm not sure whether the beach is accessible by road but the steps off it lead up to the Priory Bay Hotel which is a "well to do" hotel. There may be a car park up there too but I can't say.

To be fair I didn't study the beach. But if I'd driven there and the car park was that busy I'd have driven by. Beach with no one else there would win it for me hands down...

You can't get to Priory Bay by car. Closest would be Seagrove bay (extremely limited parking) or St Helens Duver then a walk which is rather tricky at high tide.

Priory Bay - yesterday (26th)

And me too SS. Sadly there aren't that many beaches like that at a weekend. I've got a few days off soon so I'm sure that it'll be less busy during the week.

I wasn't sure about access. Most there would have been from the hotel as there were a lot of Beatrice's & Tabitha's being shouted for!

Ya know there are times getting to your own secluded beach is awesome, and mostly what I strive for. Other times though it is fun to be social and hang out at the party. I have been to, and enjoyed, some of the largest parties on the water in the West Coast of the USA. A boat offers all kinds of opportunities, and they all can be enjoyable

Boardstock, the biggest and best party I have ever been too
