Powered or underpowered?

Hi All,

I'm an professional powerboat driver and I'm new to this forum.....and I have a dilemna!
I have the opportunity to buy a 6.1m Tohatsu RIB with a 75hp 4-stroke Honda outboard. Originally, this boat had a 90hp Tohatsu 2-stroke, but that engine is no more and was replaced with the current Honda 75.
1 or 2 people have suggested that 75hp isn't powerful enough for this boat .....so I'd welcome some feedback from other Tohatsu owners.

I'm normally the first to say that people here have bizzare views on what is underpowered and an obsession with top speed - the boat is designed to take a max of 120HP.

But even I think 75 HP might be frustrating - unless you are only planning to use it a very small set of circumstances. Can you trial it?

It should be a relatively light and easily driven rib. Would be well suited to the 90hp.

I think with the 75hp it might be a little underwhelming.

Is the rest of the rig good?
Buy it and enjoy whilst you search for another engine?
