Powerboat Racing Cowes 2006

Hi, can anyone give me an idea of where the best place to view the racing is next weekend if one is in a boat? Never done this before so what is there some protocol about how far from the course? Position on a bend? etc.

Thanks

Probably best to go ashore and watch from the Green at Cowes

Not quite what I had in mind - I wanted to play in my boat and this looked like a good excuse!

if they do the same loop as last year then don't bother with trying to gather with all the boats off the yacht squadron as its mayhem and you'd be closer to the action on the shore. If you cruise down to the western end of the loop at gurnard/thorness you'll get closer and there will be far less boats! That was the deal last year anyway.

We'll be over on the island, so if anyone wants to meet up for a drink, give me a shout.

I should be there from tomorrow (Tuesday) - I'm racing in 77 in P1 - I'll be in the Union Inn most nights!

You're like an excited little kid that can't help showing off.
