Powerboat and RIB show Portsmouth

The new venue for the old RIBEX renamed as above is coming soon. I thought I would add a note if you plan on attending by boat. Mooring is not at the show it is opposite in Haslar

"Visitor berths are being provided by Haslar Marina at special rate during the duration of the show plus taxi ride across the water into the event marina. "

Anyone who has not used Portsmouth harbour will need to know there is a small boat channel that must be used entering and leaving the harbour. linky- http://www.portsmouth-port.co.uk/pmsc/gd07-10.pdf

Info chart further down linky

Also the access across the harbour for anyone using Gunwharf requires QHM permission on channel 11 between Ballast post ---- Gunwharf or Camber

Others have mentioned about QHM who we assume will be very active with their boats during this period so worth understanding if you have not visited harbour before. There is also a note about the inner swashway as a precaution at low water please read your charts as there are several shallows on this route

Or go straight into the camber, have a beer in the Bridge Inn or even lunch and follow the pedestrian millennium walk way to GWQ I am not sure if the Boat Park are doing any special rates. Alan P

Heard QHM getting quite pissed off with a rib that didn't have a clue yesterday so make sure you enter correctly.

Hi Alan, great advice about The Camber. We did contact the show and offer to help with the logistics (launching, trailer storage, berthing, etc) as we are right next to Gunwharf, but never heard back????

For what it's worth, I do have a limited amount of pontoon spaces which I would be happy to set aside (for a small contribution to the beer fund) for visiting RIBnet members wishing to attend the show. Please phone ahead to check availability (023 9283 3166).

Alternatively, you can moor up outside the Bridge Tavern. Mooring fees are: -
£4.50 (under 8 metres) for a short stay (3 hours).

And remeber, we do offer a "lift, hull pressure wash and relaunch" service for £67.50! So, you could leave your rib with us, visit the show and return to your lovely clean rib! Again, phone ahead to book this service.

Hope evryone has a great show!

Just seen updates from show literature
"Coming to the show by boat? We have 70m of Visitors Pontooning available on a first come firt served basis located on the far outside pontoon, at a cost of just £10 per day. Simply come along, and a show steward will help you.
All visiting craft must be prepared to raft, and come equipped with fenders."

For anyone thinking of using this it is worth knowing the busy harbour kicks some good waves up with strong tides and if moored against the outer wall pontoon it is quite harsh on boats, normally they use this for large yachts . be warned it may be a tad rough on a small rib, Dry Runs offer seems like a great deal or even Haslar opposite at £8 for short stay and your boat is protected.
