Porters Ribs

Can anyone give feed back on the Pros and Cons of Porters Ribs? I know they make good sailing dinghies but know nothing about their ribs. I think they made the Tohatsu ribs and Porters Rescue Ribs.

They did indeed (still do?) make Tohatsu RIBs. My experience of their RIBs has been good; I currently have two (6.5 and 7m), and I know of two other others. All boats are in good condition after several years use. They are identical to Solent RIBs (just about everything is identical, hull, tubes, consoles etc).

Are you looking at a new one?

I've seen a couple at prices that are in my budget. I'm looking to get a starter rib and want to make sure that I can recover enough on them when I want to step up.
Thanks
Ian

Mark Halliday has a Porters, with a deck as rotten as a peach.

Indeed. This is the only one I have ever heard of doing this. Unfortunately, neither Porters or Solent put anything on the underside of the plywood deck. I can't comment on other brands, but is this normally the case?

Good point, I'd forgotten about that one!
