POLISHING THE KEEL OF A RIB? GOOD or BAD IDEA!

Is it a good idea to clean or polish the underneath of your RIB? I have heard differing thoughts on the subject. I am cleaning my Rib and tubes for the new season. I have cleaned the top but not too sure about the bottom.

I use Ciff to clean my hull. Seems to do a good job with no adverse effects as yet.

Cleaning is obviously a good idea but polishing is a bit OCD.

Oh dear ,,, I wash mine down after every trip and polish every 3rd/ 4th or so. Used all year round and still like new: it

Every 3rd or 4th trip is probably just mild OCD; every single trip would be bonker-roony.

So what's the best hull polish? I use turtle car wax but I have read in a few places car wax may actually slow the hull down or something like that?

Keeping a hull clean is easier if it is polished and waxed now and then.

As Nugent and the refurb squad will tell you, it's amazing how much a little TLC will add to the value of a RIB...

Polish and Wax are not the same thing, although the terms are occasionally used interchangeably by youngsters and newbies

Polish/ing is mildly abrasive and needs to be followed by Wax/ing which is a protective barrier.

It is a confusing area and no doubt I am, as ever, confused. The use of the terms floor polish and shoe polish for what are effectively, waxes, has to complicate the matter.

Defo no OCD as I have never polished my hull as I am with the understanding that a polished hull makes the water stick and can slow it down , as with a clean but not polished hull makes the water aria rate down the hull making it less sticky .
But I would suspected that the difference is so little that you won't even notice it !

That's right. This clean hull/polished hull thing is a hotly contested, never-ending debate in performance yachting. Just remember: time spent polishing a hull could be time spent watching YouTube.

It is possible I suppose

but do beware while out ribbing of donning them there B.S. suits,

as the Black shadow that's emitted from them does seem to have a Pied Piper effect on fellow wearers and apparently obscures Big F**K off light houses warning of the impending rocks... and Big'uns at that
