Pod seal

Just about to do some work on the above as it has provedaproblem this year. Interested in how others seal between seat and storage pod. I have tried flat seal strip but it is not effective.

I got some 3/8 neoprene sheet and glued it on to the full top of the pod
Gave up with the thin strip so far so good

I am pretty sure that Ribcraft are now using a car boot seal for the seat pods. I ordered some from them recently to redo my seats. Seems to do the job. Have quite a bit left over if needed.

I would be interested to know if anyone has done this successfully on a jockey console as I get a lot of water getting under my jockey seat which then flows over the top of the witches hat inside the console and then inside the hull.

Not 100% sure what your saying Steve...but Sounds like a Bad design Mate....but I'm pretty sure there's a way round it...Is there meant to be trunking for the under deck cables ect?...
If so surly it's meant to be sealed so water can't ingress the Hull?

Inside the jockey console directly below the steering column all the cabling goes under deck through a witches hat, but the hat is not high enough so when water gets inside the console it flows over the top of the witches hat and into the hull.

I think that the only way to sort this problem out is to fit something like this.... if I can't seal the seat, what do you reckon ???

That would certainly help with it getting into the Hull Steve....but it would be even better to stop the water getting in the Consul in the first place though!...Salt water and electrics fuses ect isn't a good mix.
Any idea how it's getting in?
If it's defiantly the seat seal...should be an easy fix.

Its the salty damp atmosphere that does the damage Mate...mine is dry as a bone but I still use corrosion guard on the back of all my kit/electrics in the consul....

That might help but I'm not sure if it would completely be watertight.

As you can see in this pic there is a tidy slope below the steering wheel and when seawater or rain water runs down it, it goes straight under the front of the seat into the jockey console.

p.s. sorry to hijack your thread Billy.

How about a divert plate across your pod just before the seat.
I'll let you off just cost you a dram!!

Yeh I have thought about that Billy, I think that it would work for rain water but for getting swamp while out in the rough stuff I think that replacing the witches hat with some trunking as in my previous link might be a better option.

Not sure how hard it would be to dismantle all the electric wiring and throttle and steering cables though But I guess that there is only one way to find out.... so looks like a winter project. As for the dram.... see you next May
