My dads mate got so fed up with them doing it on his targa and rib moored in front of his house, that after trying owls etc he took his powerful airgun there and from the bedroom window took aim when he saw one......fired.....and bang.....the window blew! He felt such a tit he swore my old man to secrecy when he helped get a local glazer in. Though two weeks later, my mum, privy to the info and suitably anebriated, told his wife.

Hi Steve I had this problem since I got my mooring. Tried plastic bags, CDs etc ( the owls are a joke - only today a big gull sat next to one here....quite funny the gull was bigger than the owl)

I have however put this on mine this year;

http://www.force4.co.uk/5055/Force-4...arer-Tape.html

one continious length from bow round the A frame to 'spread' it sideways & back to the bow. I have tied a loop in each end and use cheap plastic clips at the bow. I put it back on the spool when I go out to stop it tangling.

So far its ace ! Pull it quite tight and only in nil wind does it not twang away.

The birds do seem to hate it !

( I have had some mullett eaten on the deck but no crapping worth noticing ! )
Cheap as you can get too !

Pete

looked like a barrett .. and unlucky they shoot steel plates on a lot of ranges as they make a good ping when hit by small arms and save for the need of butt markers .. but many .50 cal bullets are steel cored and dont splash like lead oh dear

Plastic Owl

Suggest you have a look at the 'Gulsweep'

http://www.falmouthyachtbrokers.co.u.../gullsweep.htm

Not cheap - but the only thing thing I found that really worked on my fishing boat in seagull infested Falmouth Harbour.
