Pitstops Plymouth / Fowey

Thinking of a run down to Plymouth or Fowey & back next weekend.

Where is currently good to moor up for a spot of lunch - it will be low tide? I'm thinking of something other than a burger at Bovisands for a change if Plymouth, and have never been to Fowey, so all suggestions most welcome.

RIBase
We use the yacht haven / dry stack when in Plymouth, low water pontoon and great food.

Mountbatten can also be used, can be busy though.

Pulruin (Eastern side of Fowey water) also has a low water pontoon and a couple of pubs / cafes.

Looe will be dry as will Polperro if it is low tide.

After last year's success holidaying in Teignmouth we moved further west for two weeks in Fowey returning 10 days ago.

There are four all states of the tide modern pontoons around Fowey... two each side of the estuary.

The first pontoon on the western side (Albert Quay) has a huge amount of eateries within a couple of minutes (toilets neaby but you need 20p)... the second along the western side (Berrills Yard where the all weather lifeboat is stationed) has a really nice "crab shack" for light meals right at the top of the gangway.... have to walk back to town for toilets though.

First on the eastern side is Polruan pontoon... Luggers Inn right by the pontoon for food/drinks. Nearby free toilets too.

Our favourite for light meals was the far pontoon on the eastern side at Mixtow (Penlarman) with the Quay Café immediately adj. Great free showers and toilets there too with lots of shade if it's hot.

Thanks, chaps,
Really helpful -lunch is all important on these runs

If anyone fancies this run to Fowey -or part thereof , weather & sea permitting aim to leave Dartmouth c.0945.
Bolt Head c. 1045
Eddystone c. 1145
Fowey for lunch c.1245
All "ish"

Had a cracking, but long day out yesterday with MHB100.

lLaunched Galampton 0900, departed Dartmouth 1:00 after a quick bacon sarni, flat calm run to Eddystone for 1145 & some photos

Then Fowey for lunch 1300- nice meal and pint at the Luffers Arms Polruan - thanks Fenlander.

After topping the tank up with 30l from cans, ran back along the coast leaving 1400 - quite choppy Looe to Wembury Bay- then flattened out again for the most of the remainder with quick stop in a busy Salcombe, arriving back at Galmpton at 1800.

117NM total run, 87 litres of fuel used.

Looks a good run... this weather really is spoiling us. Great to see the view up the estuary from Polruan quay. We need a slightly different property/mooring arrangement from this year but I'm already looking to book somewhere in that area for next year as even in two weeks we left so much unexplored.

Lovely, just waiting to see when I can next get down that way for a long weekend or something! Looks like perfect weather for a bit of RIB cruising, and very economical on the fuel too :-)

First time into the Fowey estuary, we only stopped for lunch at Polruan, didn't have the time to explore the river of Fowey itself - and were considering the 60NM home! All looked lovely from the water , Will have to go back with some time to explore more.
